At a certain point, the reality that the vast majority of the American populace are politically ignorant needs to be accepted by non-Marxists the same way it has been by Marxists. Then, non-Marxists need to adapt their political strategy accordingly.
Progressive/socialist/Marxists start with the premise that regular people are incapable of making decisions on how best to spend the money theyve earned. And, because of this shortfall of the average individual, Marxists like President Obama assert that two things are necessary: A government that can manage average peoples labor and resources, and elitists (like Obama himself) to oversee said government.
The Marxists have been successful doing three things. 1) Gathering support from idealists and freeloaders. 2) Convincing people that Marxists are better than the Republican alternative, and 3) Convincing relatively intelligent, middle-class Americans that the government, when controlled by intelligent Marxists (like Obama), can do a better job spending the middle-classs money than they can.

The author has no idea what he is recommending....and the “marxism” can work line is an inadvertent, embarrassing admission that he needs to work on his knowledge base.

well he doesn’t think marxism is evil so that’s why this article is pointless.

We need diverse government solutions that fit our values and cultures
"Marxism - Now in flavors to suit every taste!"
Umm, no thanks. The war's not over yet, so why is this guy negotiating terms of surrender? Live free or die!

When the USSR invaded Afghanistan, Reagan funded Afghan rebels. When they tried the same thing in Latin America, Reagan fought them there, too. Over and over again, wherever the USSR tried to expand their influence, Reagan was there beating them back.
Beating them back, sure. But not by setting up little "mini-USSRs" to combat one big one! That's absolutely asinine!
On the contrary, it was the USSR that was trying to set up little "mini-USSRs", to become satellites under the direction of the big one. Reagan blocked their "road to empire".
Now this little mini-Marx wants us to set up little mini-Marxist states? And how long before the federal government starts pitching the idea of bringing them all under the federal umbrella - to "make everyone's coverage uniform" or "to fix the problems"? Huh? How long?!
Sheesh. No sale!

Speaking as one of the original Reagan Democrats, (read my FR profile)what needs to get done is to break through the information barrier.
Half of the Democrat voters are a lost cause, there is no saving them. They welcome socialism. These are the Kos kids, the hard core leftist, the anti-war activist, and readers of such blogs as Huffington Post, Mother Jones, the DU, and Moveon.org.
The other half however are reachable. Many of these are good people, but uniformed people. For most of these their only window on the World is from 30 minutes of nightly news. We must change that. Get involved. Go to the Town halls. Join others on street corners holding signs against Obamacare and out of control spending. Get a bumper sticker. Mine says (ARE YOU BETTER OFF THAN YOU WERE 4 TRILLION DOLLARS AGO?). Use the power of e-mail. Volunteer for a campaign, And talk to your neighbors

Thanks for the advice NavyCanDo. I bought several copies of Liberty and Tyranny to pass out. I also send out a lot of email to inform those who are reachable. I do know it is vital to be very involved locally as well as nationally and not let up on any front. Our public education has been overwhelmed by their influence.
