I haven’t seen it and don’t plan to. :) It’s really a disgusting plot, imho.

Mama Mia sucks. Saw it a few years back, when I was dragged into going. It just plain sucks.
To: Fishtalk
I hate the story line too, though I have not seen the movie or play.
A sperm donor is NOT a father. Fathering is a verb. The person who DOES the fathering is the father. That man could be a stepfather, an uncle, or Grandpa. No one who walks out of a child’s life or never knew he even had a child is a father. Period.
And no sperm donor can “give away” a bride. The reason the song “Butterfly Kisses” makes us cry is because we understand this is a DADDY of a BABY GIRL who grew to a big girl and then to his adult daughter. We cry for his love for her and how the relationship changes forever on that day. How could anyone get choked up over a guy who once had sex with the mom coming to the wedding of that conception?

Again with the plot. My point was if you pay attention to the plot of Mama Mia, you’re looking at the wrong thing. Suit yourself. What do you think it is? Shakespeare?

I guess I don't understand the point of your post, then. I assumed that you didn't understand the objections some have made because you weren't aware of the plot.

If you’re able to overlook the plot, my sympathies.

You’re much better off just buying the ABBA greatest hits album.

Why? Because this movie is an immoral abomination? No, I am quite comfortable with my perspective. You have a right to see the movie and enjoy it if that is your wish.
I have the right to denounce it for what it is: a continuation of the erosion of morality in this country.

If you don’t understand someone’s point, I suggest you stop replying and repeating the mistake. But hey, don’t let me stand in your way.

I pointed ALL of this out a few years ago, maybe one—when Mamma mia was in the movies around here. I pointed out the immoral aspects of it, and such. for that—I was called a prude, told I didn't know how to laugh... to just lighten up...and not be so serious.....
Of course..many of those SAME things were said to, or about me, regarding my pleas to people about the election last year too....
And here we are today....
Don't miss my tagline.

“Essentially it is the scene where a woman finds out she is pregnant and does not know who her sex partners are or how to get a hold of them.”
actually it’s not. The child is grown, getting ready to be married and sends invites to the three men who could possibly be her father.

Kathleen Freeman was spectacular in that scene.
