The only examples I can think of (of a born female who would fail a barr body test) are an XY who is female due to defective testosterone receptors, and a X0 female who only has one X chromosome.
Neither one is likely to be able to compete successfully against a woman athlete due to the physical problems associated with their genetic defect.

They would PASS a barr body test for female, but would look like and compete as men, but not very well.
Kleinfelter syndrome people are not exactly Olympic caliber athletes.
I was wondering what kind of chromosome abnormality would lead to a female who could compete but wouldn't’ pass a barr body, not what kind of male wouldn't be able to compete but would pass a barr body test.
XXY doesn't fit the bill.

Can a mosaic human be part male and part female? As long as part of the cheek that was swabbed had female cells the person would pass a barr body test (although the male part of the mosaic might produce more testosterone, which could lead to a competitive advantage).
