Here is video from President Obama's Town Hall Meeting today in Grand Junction, Colorado where a College Student challenged Obama to a direct "Oxford Style" Debate, along with asking him a question.
The student asked Obama "how in the world a private corporation" such as an Insurance Company compete with an entity like the Federal Government who does not have to pay property taxes and is not subject to regulation?
Good question - so good in fact that Obama went on one of his patented rambling answer / non-answers that said lots of words but never really dealt directly with the question. He essentially said he would see to it that unlimited taxpayer money would not be poured into a Government Health Plan making the competition unfair.
We are all reassured with that answer, aren't we? Government won't have access to unlimited taxpayer money?

And because Bambi doesn’t have a “plan” from which to draw answers, he didn’t even come close to answering the question.
All he can do is talk in generalities and circles.
But there is no principle involved in pointing to an actually existing example that disproves a claim. I know very little about the Netherlands system, but I know the French system has a private system coexisting with the public system and I would guess the Netherlands is similar. The point is that mixed systems do exist.

Apparently they use a "risk pooling" method where the private companies pay into a fund and then if a company incurs above average payouts they can be reimbursed. Interestingly this is the same approach I saw recommended in an article at Heritage Foundation the other day, though they were recommending that it be applied at the state rather than the federal level.

Ahhh yes, the old “Post Office vs. UPS and FedEx” argument. The Postal Service simply could not compete if it weren’t illegal for other entities to deliver first class mail. They’d have failed long ago.
The problem is so much simpler to solve though!!!
It should be like a NO BRAINER to people who understand the tenants of our constitution, free market system, and most importantly our allegiance to God.
All they need to do is pass one very simple law...
Insurance providers MUST directly re-imburse the patient... NOT THE DOCTOR!!!
Force the patients to pay their own bills.
Now... if they REALLY want to get serious about reducing costs, the government should start focusing more on curtailing all of the needless medical malpractice suits.
Just imagine the quality of health care we would have today if people were not suing our service providers to death over things which go way beyond ANY MAN’s control... let alone for frivolous claims that do nothing but line the pockets of tort lawyers and over-extended irresponsible individuals with nothing better to do than blame everyone else for their own misfortune.
He actually shot himself in the foot by mentioning how the “government-run” USPS is having problems compared to FedEx, UPS, etc. He makes the capitalist point but doesn’t even realize it. The government sponsored enterprise is way more inefficient. Plus, they refuse to accept they need to cut costs. That’s why postal rates keep going up, not down.
At first when I heard the kid was from CU-Boulder one of the most liberal places on the planet...I thought the kid was a plant and like someone else said I think Obama practiced for this question which he really did not answer very well

This idiot was about to CRAM it down our throats without debate...and now, because the American people think his plan BLOWS he is suddenly willing to admit the debate is worthwhile.
