Is US Chief Information Officer (CIO) Vivek Kundra a Phony?

This is the sort of question you might ask after trying to actually verify his supposed MS in Information Technology from the University of Maryland, College Park campus. The registrar has no record of it. After initially posting this article the degree has cropped up apparently at the nearby University Campus in 2001. This was found by Nextgov.Com. But his degree in biology has yet to appear as his record shows a degree from College Park Campus for Psychology and nothing more.

I have queried the White House for clarification and still have received no response. The internet has answered the MS question. But other issues remain. Regarding a number of interesting and questionable facts, most in regard to Kundra’s bio. The most ridiculous is his assertion that he was formerly a CEO of Creostar. While records for this company are hard to come by a small Dun & Bradstreet service did turn up the following information: there was indeed a Creostar in Arlington, VA. It was founded in 2004 with the contact being Vivek Kundra. The last record for the company (online) showed sales of $67,000 with one employee – apparently Kundra, the CEO.

I helped the White House administrator RC Kovosos plug some WH security holes after 911 as a concerned citizen. Does that make me qualified now to become the CIO of the United States? I don't think so but somehow this guy who's notable achievement is generating $67k as small business is. The article references the SAIC, a private firm who's primary customer is the US government. The SAIC is a global data collector. I am familiar with there operations. They know what color your socks you wore this morning. This is a bad sign that the CIO is involved with the SAIC. Obama spying on citizens and all that...

I know this is different but I remember when Bob Knight wanted to expose athletic recruiting services and he created a fake player named Ivan Renko. He started talking about the GREAT Ivan Renko who he had seen while playing during a fishing trip to Russia. Sure enough Ivan Renko started appearing on all of the top 100 high school player lists. Of course, there was no Ivan Renko. Knight made it all up and the media believed it hook, line, and sinker.

What is the past association between Obama and Kundra?

Be careful, you are likely to be smeared with the “racist” brush by the WH. Surely you know that all of Asian Indian extraction are, by birth, naturally talented in all matters High-Tech and should not be questioned by mere WASPs.

That's one single 6-month contract at $75/hour, which is a reasonable but not overly excessive 1099 contract rate in DC Metro for a decent IT worker with a Masters degree.

I believe University of Maryland University College is the ‘distance learning’ program of University of Maryland. If academic pecking order matters to you, it’s probably not quite as prestigious as a degree earned from an on-campus program at the College Park campus.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA

I have my Bachelors in Computer Information Systems
I have my MBA in Technology Management
I have my CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) from ISC2
I have my CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor)
I have managed all aspects of IT for a company with 6+ million dollars in revenue for 14 years.

I would not have considered myself qualified to be Bush's CIO.

What a bunch of cronies!

Hey, hey! He stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.

(Which makes him much more qualified than any of the remaining Obamaloon cabinet members.)

Help me with my memory on this:

Was this the former D.C. CTO?

Wasn't there a slight problem in that office RIGHT at the MOMENT that Kundra went to 1600?

Yes and yes.

FBI Raids Washington D.C. CTO Office of Vivek Kundra, Obama's New CIO

This got a lot of play here in D.C. with that local scandal connection.

I’ll bet those of you in IT are all too familiar with the “Indian Mafia” phenomenon.

Oh dear, I had better report to my local re-education center now.

Why not? Everyone else in the obama adminisration is, why not one more.

The silver lining to this cloud is that when obama care passes, the old godgers that voted him in power can vote from the cemetaty.

Sure, he sounds like a slick, Obamaesque weasel and over-promoter. But that he worked for a time as, presumably, an independent consultant and called himself CEO of his consulting firm isn’t proof of anything good or bad.

And, he’s work as a chief technology officer in governments before. That’s actually a better credential for a similar position at the federal level than is somebody who’s a wiz at writing code or who built some sort of successful software company.
