Nazi ‘resonates’ because the media is chomping at the bit to find conservatives willing to discredit their argument by screaming “Nazi!”.

Godwin's rule applies. You do more to discredit yourself than your opposition by trying to apply the Nazi label. It has become the modern day equivalent of claiming your political foes are ‘the Antichrist’.
