Here is video today of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on This Week standing up for former Gov. Sarah Palin's statement that she does not want to turn over decisions about life and death matters to "Obama's Death Panel," referring to Government Bureaucrats who could have the final say as to what treatments or procedures are "appropriate" for people to get.
George Stephanopoulos asked Gingrich what he thought about her comment as if he expected Gingrich to repudiate it. Gingrich did not. Stephanopoulose seemed disbelieving when Gingrich said that Palin's concern is well-founded since the brother of the President's Chief of Staff has advocated rationing care from those who are too old or too sick to justify spending huge amounts of money on. Stephanopoulos argued that such ideas are not in the plan, but Gingrich pointed out that the "plan" sets up all kinds of new agencies and could easily be manipulated into a kind of passive "euthanasia" when people with such views have power and influence in the Government. . . . . Thanks, Newt, for supporting Sarah Palin’s sentiments.
Just to get it out of the way:
Newt=”Too much baggage.”
/sarc
Now, with that canned crtitique dispense with here on the “conservative forum” Free Republic, let’s take a rational moment to agree that Newt (a) has a voice, (b) defended Sarah Palin, (c) went after Rahm Emanual’s nutcase brother, and (d) adds his decades-long personal critique of “government panels”.
Count the number of alleged and self-professed national “conservatives” standing up in the above manner.
Don’t even bother to count the “other Republican leaders,” of which there seem to be perhaps 1 or 2 of the 218 on Capitol Hill.
>>> Thanks, Newt, for supporting Sarah Palins sentiments. <<<<
You forgot to say “too much baggage” and “divorced his wife in the cancer ward.”
Come on bloggers!
Lets end this thing!

Thanks, Newt.
George Stephanopoulos really displays his bias in this exchange. As for Newt, his response was great!
Thanks, Newt.
Agree and thanks ahead of time to the people of the United States of America who may have voted for this imposter but
who understand now that they made a mistake. It’s okay
for them to apoligize and come join forces with us....
Stephanopoulus is a liar. READ THE DARN BILL.
Sarah is exactly right. There will be govt. bureaucrats deciding who lives or dies by rationing care.
Then, George lies again. Raum’s brother IS the medical czar for health care, and will be advising Obama.
Raum’s brother has written articles about how only people 15 to 40 deserve care..........
First newt jumps on pelosi’s bandwagon and does a global warming commercial, and now he’s jumping on Sarah’s bandwagon.
Go away newt.
Say what you will about baggage but Newt is among the very few truly conservative voices we have. He and a few others ,such as Bill Bennett, are consistently on message and articulate conservative values in a way that anyone can understand. We must encourage these people to speak out not aid in their ridicule by the left.
Newt made the statement that Dr. Emanuel is Obama's "Chief Healthcare Advisor. Georgie's said: "No he's not". That ended that.
What I learned - The Libs do not want to talk about Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel. Period
But, does anyone know what Dr. Emanuel's actual position is on the Obama Health Care policy team?
Well done Newt. He’s not perfect, but he is on our side.
Wikipedia says:
Ezekiel has been tapped as a White House Health Care policy adviser.

Hmmm—I wonder of old Newt is beginning to understand that Sarah Palin will be a conservative force to be reckoned with come 2012. He has not said positive things about her in the past.
Also, I think it’s instructive that he is following her lead not vice versa.
Never was comfortable with Newt. Waving the “Contract with America” around always reminded of the Chicoms waving Maos “Little Red Book” around when they were subjecting people they believed to be “revisionists” to humiliation or worse. I did not like the fact that he left his first wife under the circumstances he did. And I though he caved entirely to fast on the allegations that he committed some kind of election nono or something.
He, Mary Maitlan, Peggy Noonan, Bill Crystal, George Will and a host of others need to go away. They are a losing team. Passe. New conservative blood, people who’re willing to call things what they are and face down the opposition liars, must come to the fore and LEAD.
I’m way too old to take the point. But I would be happy to join the right team.
I think a lot of people around here would be very interested in any links you can provide on the topic.
Although Newt slipped up by calling Ezekiel Emanuel Obama’s chief healthcare advisor. Stephy corrected him and Newt seemed to concede the point.
