Encrypt them. Unless they can break the encryption, they won’t know what you have on the laptop.
Secondly, mark them as ‘hidden’ files, so they do not visibly appear on your computer. Most border agents aren’t any more skilled with computers than you are. So if they can’t see a file, it doesn’t exist.

I think he'll have a little problem with the Fourth Amendment there.
He hasn't had a problem with the rest of the Constitution so far. I don't think an amendment is going to stop him.

I know that a lot of business people upload any data files back to the USA over the internet, then erase and destroy the original files on thier laptops before they cross a border.
