How did he get elected? I thought Montana was a more “manly” state.

Alot of californians are moving to Montana and thoroughly liberalizing certain parts.

He started out as a congressman from the western district in the 70’s. Walked the whole district over about a year the folks generally liked him then and like him now so they keep electing him. He's been good on gun rights which is the major issue here. The fact that lots of Californians have moved in doesn't hurt him either in getting elected. He will probably be there as long as he wants to stay ..
