Evil? Thats a bit of a stretch. Stupid? Yeah, definitely. My well to do neighbor just traded in his truck for a slightly smaller one on this program. The government just GAVE this guy $4500 bucks. In the meantime, other neighbor, who is really struggling, wont be able to qualify for a new car loan at the moment, so he is screwed.

I don't know where you are with the whole Christian faith thing. But what about the idea of stewardship and taking care of what you have? It is a very wasteful idea to bring in a vehicle that could last another five or six years and trade it in for a new model and four years of debt, and benefit from the deal because tax dollars (other people's money) were used to lure you into the dealership? But then again, I try not to mind other people's business too much.
