“This is not about me.”
Hmmmm....so deMint said that before Hussein did.
Mad Dawgg to Obama, and the downside for me is...?
I'll buy the popcorn.
Well, yeah, Mr. It'sNotAboutMe. They want to give Joe Biden his last shot, since there's no way he'd ever get elected.
GOD Willing!!!
Blue dogs to mugabe obama, “you are destroying our country.”
HIS PRESIDENCY???
Isn’t he supposed to be working for US?
I thought he was supposed to be making America better, not worrying about his own agenda!
-That somehow health care becomes cheaper when a government takes over.
-That there will be no rationing of care and anything is available for all.
The bottom line is this. Today “you” the consumer control the purse and “you” are a customer. You have legal recourse and have a high degree of influence on the type of care you receive. You are responsible for selecting your insurance and have to make decisions concerning your own care. Once a government takes over, a bureaucrat makes these decision on your behalf and political considerations as well as ideological views bleed into the decision making process. You see this with medicare, medicaid, the VA, Tricare in the DoD as well as overseas where they have national/universal/social health care systems.
What you get in the end is government managed health care that like in Germany costs 14.7% of your pretax income. You end up with a government dictating what is and what is not covered. Legal recourse is limited because the government like in a monopoly game is both a player and the bank, making their own rules as they go. What you end up with is paid abortions and sex change operations paid for, but someone over 70 being declined dialysis as is the case in the UK. It's very convenient, because you no longer have to think, and the fear of the uncertain is gone. The arguments are all about egalitarianism and that you have some right to health care. However, as with all other social programs, you are surrendering your freedom for some security and in the end you have a mediocre health care system with cost controls that stifle innovation, poor customer service because you no longer hold the power of the purse, and a government suit that dictates how health care is rationed largely based on what is politically expedient.
