Item 1: Rush NEVER SUPPORTED OR ENDORSED ROMNEY, frequent false claims by Romney supporters to the contrary. Peruse Rush's exact words in the "three legs of the stool" speech, which is the standard "proof" offered by Romney supporters regarding Rush's so-called support. It is very cagily worded by Rush, and the actual segment, in its complete context, was NOT about Romney, it was about the shortcomings of the primary candidates. Rush did have high praise for Romney's Religion in America speech, but that praise failed to include Romney's politics, and if I remember correctly, TWICE during that show segment, when he praised the Religion in America speech, Rush stated very clearly that he was NOT endorsing Romney.
Item 2: Mark Levin gave Romney his official primary endorsement in a column as a last resort, after Thompson had dropped out, and it was very clearly written by Levin AS a last resort, as the least of the evils before us. He was not happy to be endorsing Romney, but he hated the idea of McCain or Huckabee even more.
Item 3: You may also come across claims by Romney supporters that Michael Reagan "supported" Mitt Romney, and they will show you a very flattering quote pinched out-of-context from one of Reagan's columns. Read the whole column, and you'll see that the paragraph immediately following the one they pinch, Reagan writes: "The same can be said of Rudy Giuliani." I have searched, and NOWHERE did I find an official endorsement of Romney from Reagan.
I have done my homework.
