It has been posted elsewhere that in 1961 the law required the US Parent to have lived in the US for 5 years after age 14 to confer citizenship if bofn outside US. Since she was 18 she did not qualify to rendee him citizenship!

>>> Rush was describing how he was going through a tax audit from New York. He then gave Obama a good rip saying- “Obama hasn’t even proven he’s a citizen.”

Oh.. i remember hearing him say that... and I remember hearing him tell the God vs Obama joke...

He hasn’t devoted a segment to it then yet.

I guess the government has more hooks in him than we realize after that little brush with the law he had.

If he was born in Africa to an adult American parent, he would have dual citizenship (British/American prior to Kenya’s independence). HOWEVER —

At the time of his birth, the law stipulated that the American parent had to have been a resident of the United States for 10 years, at least five of which were over the age of 14. Ann Dunham was only 18 at the time of his birth and was, therefore, not eligible to convey citizenship to her infant son if he was born on foreign soil.

There is, however, a bigger question than where Obama was born and that is what the Founders meant by “natural born.” There are compelling arguments and legal precedent for the position that someone with dual citizenship also has dual loyalties and that is why the Founders used that particular wording.

By any account, Obama has had multiple citizenships: Kenyan, British, and, as evidenced by his Indonesian school records, Indonesian. We don’t even know if he was naturalized after returning to Hawaii after his Indonesian childhood.

There is speculation that he has traveled on Indonesian passports, particularly during his trips to Pakistan and the Middle East while — as he describes himself — an impoverished college student. He may well have been enrolled in Occidental, Columbia, and possibly even Harvard Law as an international student from Indonesia. We don’t know, because he won’t release the records.

When Obama went to Hawaii when his grandmother was passing away, Rush said soimething like- “Obama is probably there looking for his birth certificate.”

Agree. Regardless of the status eventually discovered, I believe defrauding the country with a forged federal document should get you jail time.

Biden’s predicted 6 month to the day Obama crisis is starting to begin.

He also said America may not like the response, either. Interesting.

No. She was too young to confer citizenship.

No dice on the singlehandedly stuff. We were batting this around long before she showed up. Polarik and FR were on this from the day the COLB was released. Not to mention Berg and his lawsuits.

Go here to educate yourself

OK, I read it.
There are many definitions cited as changing through the years. As many of the definitions were written before the turn of the century they focus on the citizenship of the father as the determination of natural-born citizen. Even if the father is absent. Even if the child is raised by the American side of the family.

Under these definitions it seems perfectly legal for Middle Eastern fathers to take their children from their American mothers to be raised as Muslims in the land of their birth. The mothers have no rights.

Though Obama has had foreign influences on his life I have never heard of him pledging allegience to a foreign country.

I do agree the man is a menace to freedom but trying to oust him due to him not being natural-born is grasping at a remote technicality. I would much rather get rid of him by a massive recall election.

P, I listen to Rush as often as my work schedule permits...Limbaugh started “on” this topic “jokingly (awhile back). Now, not so “joking.” He was really spot on today. Couple Rush’s take with Lou Dobbs, w/Rev. Manning...and toss in the topical mentions on Drudge (today, the Townhall mtg in DE)...and this is getting ready to take off—with a life ot its own. I am waiting for Gibbs to be asked about it at a presser (Helen Thomas is still pretty pi$$ed...she is cranky enough to do the deed).

There are a lot of people working to bring this to the light. The brave soldier might be the straw that breaks the back. So, many of these people who are out there demanding accountability while being ridiculed by even those who should know better, deserve the nation's respect, honor and appreciation.

This can be the item that stops the lefts rampage of bankrupting our nation. It can be the battle cry. The rebel yell.

>>> When Obama went to Hawaii when his grandmother was passing away, Rush said soimething like- “Obama is probably there looking for his birth certificate.”

I remember that... it was the most time he ever spent on the subject... and he said a lot more than that.

He spoke about how he previously didn’t want to bring it up because of credibility issues... i.e. is it real... also because the subject was not prominent news. He then suggested that Obama’s inconsistent behavior (Obama announcing a family emergency and then not leaving until 3 days later) had tweaked his interest... and that he found it interesting and worthy of further investigation.

BUT... some time after that, in a brief response to other news stories, Rush said... and I quote: “IT DOESN’T MATTER WHERE HE WAS BORN”... In context I believe what he was saying was that it doesn’t matter if Obama is constitutionally qualified or not... that the reality of the situation is that he IS president, and that removing him from office on the basis of his eligibility is futile.

I do not believe that Rush shares the view that such a blatant disregard for this particular clause of the constitution represents as big a threat as other more prominent violations of the constitution.

But I fail to understand why Rush continues to ignore this issue in light of more current events that make Obama so clearly more vulnerable and exposed.

Rush can no longer claim that this issue is not “prominent news”, because Fox news reported on the Major Cook story... which in and of itself directly refutes Rush’s own words that this story “doesn’t matter”.

Come on Rush!... it’s only another .01% ding on the “right scale”! Suck it up and expose this!

I do agree the man is a menace to freedom but trying to oust him due to him not being natural-born is grasping at a remote technicality.

Not to mention, it will never happen.

Every once in a while I just can't help myself, and have to stir up some of these "Obama is an American Citizen by virtue of his birth, but is not a natural born citizen" folks. OK, how about this:

Suppose McCain had the civic (as opposed to combat) courage to use all of BO's traitorous connections against him. Suppose McCain pulled out a 1 vote Electoral College win. Suppose the rumor started around on DU and KOS that McCain was born out of wedlock. (No slur on mom, this is a hypothetical). More than a rumor, the DU folks get a DNA sample from McCain, and prove his is no kin to mother husband, Admiral McCain. They then prove, by DNA, who McCain's biological father, and that man was not a United States citizen.

So what happens? According to the Birthers, McCain, born out of wedlock, off US soil, to a non-American daddy, is not a natural born citizen, and cannot hold the Presidency.

How would Freepers react if that transpired, and Congress impeached McCain so that Sarah Palin could be sworn in as President?

Scratch that question. A lot of us might react very favorably to Sarah being sworn in as President.

How would Freepers react if that transpired, and Congress impeached McCain, then declared that since BO was the eligiable candidate with the most electoral college votes, they were declaring him the winner?

“Obama is probably there looking for his birth certificate.”

His grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, did have a copy of Barack Obama's birth certificate.

"I discovered this article, folded away among my birth certificate and old vaccination forms, when I was in high school. It's a short piece, with a photograph of him. No mention is made of my mother or me, and I'm left to wonder whether the omission was intentional on my father's part, in anticipation of his long departure. Perhaps the reporter failed to ask personal questions, intimidated by my father's imperious manner; or perhaps it was an editorial decision, not part of the simple story that they were looking for. I wonder, too, whether the omission caused a fight between my parents."

From "Dreams..." (Pg. 26 last paragraph)

IT DOESN’T MATTER WHERE HE WAS BORN

Because Obama's father was a citizen of Kenya and a British subject. At birth, so was Obama.

A "natural born" citizen of the US has two US citizen parents and is born in the mainland US.

McCain is not a “natural born” citizen either. He was born in a foreign country.

yeah... well for someone like Rush who harps so much on the importance of our constitution, it escapes me why he ignores this one.

Based on his past “cutting edge” boldness, you would think he would be the front-runner on this one.

Makes you wonder what they do have on him... or how he has been threatened over this issue that he doesn’t even mention.
