This site - wonderful as it is - has a fair amount of wackos on it. Some folks here like to just toss out ridiculous statements; don’t sweat it Lima Lima.
American soldiers come home. Period. He’ll be dealt with when he gets here. Right now let’s hope he gets here in one piece.

Lots of opportunists have showed up on the major news nets....
Peters needs to wait.
Unless he needs a paycheck.....

Of course you're right.
I just hate convicting our military before we have any facts.

Of course you're right. I just hate convicting our military before we have any facts. Remember John Murtha and what he did to our Marines.

I think this is the same Col Ralph Peters who is such an authority on the F22 fighter and what is needed for the defense of our nation.
I don’t agree with him on the F22, and the way he presents his arguments, I would view this with a jaundiced eye.

He kinda had that “boy, did I really screw the pooch on this one” look on his face.
Hope he’s gonna be OK.

If he was traitorous America should deal with him, not Taliban. He may have simply been stupid to leave the safe zone. He may have gotten mixed up and lost his way.

Nope, a Marine.
Get it right. :)

I apologized to you privately and I will do the same now publicly. As I said, I have a son that is a new Marine at Camp Pendleton.
I just refuse to rush to judgement on this soldier until all the facts are in.
Until they are, I consider him an American POW in great distress and in need of rescue.
Nothing less.
I continue to pray for him and his family.

23 WAS a man back in the 70s....today, having seen many 23 year olds still living at home with mommy...I wouldn’t say that’s a man. Although, I must admit..there does seem something suspicious about all of this. But don’t think its wise for the Colonel to talk like this..not now anyway.
To: LimaLimaMikeFoxtrot
I’m withholding judgment.
Reports are that he walked away from his post without his rifle.
That’s all we have to go on T H U S F A R.
I do not have a time machine. Thus, until I finish building my time machine, I cannot go back and draw a definitive conclusion. That’s why I said “If.”

Having said all that I have about this guy’s status, I will say that we should wait and see exactly what the facts are.

I'm always willing to give members of our military the benefit of the doubt.
God knows the media will not and they have proven that they despise our fighting forces.
I remain skeptical of their news "reports" because I know their agenda.

I too apologized in private, and will do so in public.
I pray that the boy is not a deserter, I’ve lost too many friends that were put into greater danger because of such selfishness. abandoning ones duty, is treason of the highest order to me, and I cannot feel any sorrow for someone who would do that.
Congrats to my new “brother”.
Angels protect him now and always.

Semper Fidelis, Marine. No need to apologize to me ever.
God Bless you and thank you for your service to the Corps and our nation.
May God continue to bless America.

So what’s up mods? You guys deleted that other thread on this topic just a short while ago. What’s the difference between it and this one? Just pointing it out.

This COL Peters fellow needs some education - it's okay to talk that way within the unit, but that kind of talk is never to leave the unit.
I saw the interview and I think Ken here has it right. Yes Peters did qualify statements a lot with "if", but it doesn't matter, it's still silly to talk this way in public, it's the kind of talk that should happen within a specific audience in the military crowd not a public Fox interview.
There is no evidence at all that he intentionally went to the Taliban. There seems to be testimony that he deserted.
His relatives, when asked, said only the first sentence of his speech sounded like the real him, the rest sounded like statements under duress. They said the talk that he wanted to get married back home wasn't right, because he didn't even have a serious girlfriend. Their perception was that he regretted the situation he was in. I think the talk about getting married might be a way of signaling to people that everything he is saying is forced and not real. So peters shouldn't jump on him so fast for saying what he does.
