I wouldn’t be surprised if the Saudis, Indians, Turks or even Russians (and to a lesser degree the Pakistanis) would supply an insurgency there with arms and funding. Not to mention private jihadi and arms-trafficking networks.
The Chinese aren’t exactly the most popular kid on the block. There are many who would just love to see them suckered down in an internal war.
I wouldn’t put my money on the bet that it would be a cakewalk for the Chinese. Their indisputable advantage is that they have an unlimited supply of soldiers to waste.
