DON'T FALL FOR THE BLUE DOG & PONY SHOW

There are no Blue Dog democrats.
There are democrats who occasionally vote with the GOP out of fear of losing their seat in Congress but there are NO Blue Dog democrats. If push comes to shove so-called Blue Dogs always vote with the democrats

Today the state-run media is reporting that the so-called Blue Dog democrats are threatening to bring down Obamacare.
The Hill reported:

Centrist Democrats are threatening to oppose their party’s healthcare legislation unless House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) accepts changes that make the bill more to their liking.

Seven Blue Dogs on the House Energy and Commerce Committee have banded together to draft amendments that they’ll co-sponsor in the committee markup, which starts Thursday. Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.), the Blue Dogs’ point man on healthcare, says if those changes aren’t accepted, they’ll vote down the bill.

If you believe this, I've got a profitable Detroit car company to sell you.

No doubt, this orchestrated Blue Dog and pony show was carefully orchestrated for (or with) the state-run media. They will next pretend that the so-called moderates actually forced changes to the Pelosi bill. It's just a Blue Dog and pony show.
The bill will still be a massive democratic power grab. Don't fall for it.

Well, the way I see it there are two factors at work here and the other commenters here have said this too.

On the one hand the constituents these blue dogs represent are pretty conservative and they fear angering them.
On the other hand the, the funding and the electoral machinery of these blue dogs comes from moveon.org types.

Ultimately what they will do depends on whom they fear most. Unless there is a huge public outcry that pierces through the media manipulation like it did for example with Comprehensive Immigration Reform, these blue dogs will generally do the bidding of their party bosses. The key element that plays a role in this is fear.If the issue weren't so serious all this cowardly manipulation would actually be funny

Unfortunately the situation looks pretty grim now. The dynamics are such that not passing this sham bill would deliver a huge blow for the Democratic Party. I saw Today's Rasmussen Numbers for Obama. They stood at 51-47 I think.

In Post No. 14 JustTheTruth points out that the real action will be in the Senate Finance Committee and that wont happen until fall. By that time Obama's Numbers would have fallen below the 50 mark. SO these Marxist thugs are going to try every dirty trick in the book to get this thing done. Sadly the numbers are not in the Republicans favor in Washington. Thus the only way this bill can be blocked is if public opposition builds up.

Thank you. I think it has the potential for a good country music video. Like “You’re wanted by the Police, and My Wife Thinks You’re Dead”

parsy, who isn’t currently wanted by the police

Good point. If all the "blue dogs" were really what they claim to be, we wouldn't have Pelosi as the Speaker. The blue dogs could have simply nominated one of their own, gotten all of the GOP votes, and elected a blue dog as Speaker.

The fact that this didn't happen shows that they aren't at all conservative, and that they support the commie Democrats whenever the chips are down.

Blue dog democrats are a dying breed but Blue dogs
are something to sing about...

In the key of G - God's key ;o)

Old Blue

Well, I had an old dog and his name was Blue,
Had an old dog and his name was Blue.
Had an old dog and his name was Blue...
Betcha five dollars he's a good dog too...
"Here old Blue"
"Good dog you"

Well, I shouldered my axe and I tooted my horn,
Went to find 'possum in the new-grown corn.
Old Blue treed and I went to see,
Blue had 'possum up a tall oak tree.
Mmm, boy I roast'd 'possum, nice and brown,
Sweet po-ta-toes, n' all a-round...
And I said "Here old Blue (here-boy)
You can have some too"

Now, Old Blue died and he died so hard,
Made a big dent in my back-yard.
Dug his grave with a silver spade,
Lowered him down with a link of chain.
Every link I did call his name...
Singing "Here…old...Blue-ue...
"Good dog you"

Now, when I get to heaven, first thing I'll do.
When I get to heaven, first thing I'm gonna do.
When I get to heaven first thing I'll do,
Pull out my horn and call old Blue...
I'll say, "Here Old Blue come-on dog"
"Good dog you."

I'll say, "Here Blue-e"
"I'm a coming there too"
"Down boy... good dog"

What a good song. My Old Blue Dog died Tuesday. Border collie. 16 years old. Lived with my ex-wife. Named Boogie. Good dog. She used to herd the kids up when they were younger.

parsy, who will miss Boogie. And Rudolph. Clancy, the stray bird. Leo, the hamster. First dog Rex, who used to get so tired in the woods I had to put him over my shoulder and carry him home.
