undefined Dr. Sheldon Miller, my children's pediatrician used to say that mother's know better than doctors. President Obama and his democratic congress do not agree with the good doctor.
There are many loving parents who insist that some of the vaccines given to children today are dangerous (just for the record I am not one of them) and they do not want them given to their kids. They point to some evidence that links some vaccinations to Autism and even worse afflictions. There is other evidence that some vaccinations do not protect their kids as they wear out before the end of childhood.
While I don't agree with those assertions, It is not the job of our federal government to make medical decisions for parents. Under the Obamacare bill passed by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee, states will be forced to knock on your door, and even force your kids to have the vaccination that you may think will harm your child:

My kids were not vaccinated.
I received the polio vaccination when I was a child... and it gave me polio!
After several months, the polio wore off and I could walk again.
Not into forced vaccinations and we may experience the attempt to do so with the swine flu. Thanks but no thanks.
No flu shot in at least 10 years and haven’t gotten sick, while others I know who have gotten shots got sick. Always with the Dr. telling them the shot was to protect x flu virus and they caught y virus.
This isn’t an easy case to decide.
Unvaccinated kids augment the risk of illnesses for all other kids and adults because the pool that can be infected is greater.
Would you want your child to catch rubeola while you are pregnant? You could then be infected by same rubeola which causes blindness and other illnesses in fetuses? Or your child be exposed to polio because some other child parent has decided he knows best than doctors?
I don’t know.
The illegals from mexico do it here in Dallas all the time. Very common.
That, however, is state law, not Federal. As usual, Obama is violating the constitution here.
But what the hell, they aren’t really our kids. They all belong to Obama now.
The point is...do you want government to regulate yet another part of our lives? I for one, do not.
More regulation equals less freedom!
My son was not vaccinated until he went to college, except for polio. All you have to do is sign a waiver, at least for his private school. We homeschooled the rest.
I would not HAVE the govt telling me to vaccinate my kids. And will they be responsible for any reactions/ lawsuits??
This president is SO disgusting.
It’s been awhile, but I remember that you could provide proof of religious objection to vaccinations and still register your children. BUT, that was when the government sorta respected religious folk.
Let’s talk when your child dies from an avoidable whooping cough that he caught because he was one of the children whose immunization wasn’t complete and the neighbor’s child at school was not vaccinated because his parents didn’t believed in it. This isn’t an imaginary scenario. There were death in the UK exactly because of this.
Freedom doesn’t mean you can endanger others.
“Try enrolling a kid in school without proof of vaccinations.”
Add that to the already voluminous list of reasons to homeschool. Other reasons include: Getting an education that’s worth anything and socialize your kids to be something other than drones in Obama’s new order.
How was that possible?
I know several people who got polio before vaccinations, the polio never went away.
“They hear childhood disease and think it is no worse than a cold.”
I am afraid you are right. They don’t realize that these “childhood diseases” can kill. Measles destroyed the Hawaiian native population and can still result in brain damage or death. Young children can die of whooping cough... And let us not talk about polio.
The fact they don’t know that is a paean to the miracle of vaccination.
home schooling it will be then
You beat me to it...
I don’t think they should be mandatory, but if a child doesn’t get his shots he should not be allowed in public a definitely not in public schools, daycare or other activities with children.
It is fine if people want to keep live their lives by non-scientific beliefs but they won’t be putting my children in danger by doing so.
