Judge Bars Bush Crackdown on Illegal Workers
By Michelle Malkin October 10, 2007 04:42 PM
Welcome to our open-borders judiciary:
A federal judge barred the Bush administration today from launching a planned crackdown on U.S. firms that hire illegal immigrants, warning of the plans potentially staggering impact on law-abiding workers and companies.
Issuing a firm rebuke of the White House, U.S. District Judge Charles R. Breyer of San Francisco granted a preliminary injunction against the governments plan to pressure employers to fire up to 8.7 million workers with suspect Social Security numbers starting this fall.
President Bush made that plan the centerpiece of a re-energized enforcement effort against illegal immigration after the Senate rejected his proposed legislation to overhaul immigration laws this summer. But the ruling made at the behest of major American labor, business and farm organizations highlighted the chasm that the immigration fight has opened between the Republican Party and its traditional business allies.
The ruling also called attention to the gulf between Washington politicians rhetoric about the need to curtail illegal immigration and the economic reality of many U.S. employers reliance on illegal labor, as well as to the governments inability to find adequate tools for identifying illegal workers.
Looks like Michelle’s been sniffing the glue again.
He was tough compared to Nancy Pelosi.
Sorry Michelle, timing means everything. Failed or not, this crackdown came AFTER the smackdown. Excuse me if I doubt his sincerity and willingness to go the extra mile. And his bro Jeb is out there hawking shamnesty again.
His non pardon of our imprisoned border agents also speaks volumes as to his true beliefs and commitments.
Think what you will about the case, but they were legally found guilty by a jury.
And Bush let them out of Jail.
I still like the phrase - Just say no. Compromise in todays political lexicon means agreeing with libs. No thanks.
Reagan proposed a very limited amnesty and got open doors. How’s that for compromise?
When Bush took office there were an 'estimated' Eight Million Illegals in the USA (per US Census), there are NOW 30,000,000+ here now (at the least).
So regardless of what this judge ruled in 2007, Bush and ROVE practically gave illegals an open invitation to BREAK THE LAW, flood our Borders and INVADE the USA. And if it wasn't for 9-11 they would have done it sooner.
The fact is that Clinton was tougher on illegals and had more prosecutions of employers than Bush. That's pathetic, a disgrace, and borders on criminal dereliction.
I concede that up to a point.
My final thought on the legal jury thing is this:
OJ was legally acquitted
Scooter Libby was legally convicted
Riviera Beach FL legally confiscated private property to hand over to developers
We live in a nation where the rule of law has been deliberately trampled upon. Where you can be imprisoned & your property confiscated on the strength of an edict by an unelected bureaucrat. A country where appointed "czars" have the authority to infringe on the rights of corporations and private citizens with rank impunity. A country where people can be prosecuted more severely simply on the basis of what someone supposes they were thinking at the time; rob a black owned convenience store, it's a felony & hate crime, rob a white owned convenience store it's simple felony.
Obviously, I could go on ad nauseum. I respect the law, if it does not contradict our Constitution. I have damn little respect for the law as it is misapplied, ignored and perverted in this country. As regards "federal law", it is my position that the majority of federal law is unconstitutional and illegal from the getgo. It is also my position that we currently have an illegal and unconstitutional federal government. Thus any laws passed by this government are ipso facto illegal. In reality we are being ruled by force and fear, not respect for law.
That is not Michelle Malkin’s headline.
You'd be hard pressed to document those figures.
