What is it with Palin and these conservative intellectuals? Usually smart people are reduced to blathering buffoons when it comes to discussing the woman they love to hate. Actually, make that just 'hate'. How else to explain the high pitched scream that is today's edition of Peggy Noonan's WSJ column ('A Farewell to Harms')?

Sarah Palin initiated a brilliant flanking manuever against the left, the DNC, and the MSM (and throw the RINOs in there for good measure) that has them all in a frenzy wondering what her next move will be and how it will be perceived...and has them frothing at the mouth in their efforts to discredit her.

Sarah will now get her book out, go on tour, give speeches and promote conservatie principles all over this country in the midst of the Obama administration disater and gain great political capital in the process. Then she will support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win, amassing much more political capital. She will then take all of that and make an awesome, stunning run for the Presidency in 2012.

I think there is definitely an interesting thing emerging here, and the attacks on Sarah may just be a reflection of it. There is a huge difference between being smart and being educated. Education allows people of moderate intelligence to appear smarter than they are because they know stuff that less educated people don't. But if they ever have to use what they know in a way they haven't been taught, they will flounder and fail.

I think the people attacking Sarah are on this lower tier of the intelligence ladder. They keep repeating falsehoods about her, say what others are saying, and fall into the group think of who or what she is. They use hearsay, innuendo, guilt by association, and other kids of ad hominem attacks. They go after her family, her looks, her lack of specific knowledge in certain areas. Whenever they do go after her on an issue, they misstate her actual position and attack that. Why do they resort to those tactics? Why don't they just state her positions on the issues and point out where they think they are wrong?

My guess is that they instinctively know she's smart. Less intelligent people fear smart people because they know that smart people will actually solve problems, fix broken things, and eliminate waste. And when that happens, it marginalizes the people who know just enough to get by and cannot adapt to change. You know, the Peggy Noonans of the world.

That's why I think they are afraid of her. They don't understand her because she is smarter then they are--she's unpredictable to them, but somehow what she does always works out for her. From their point of view she is a danger to their way of life because she reminds them they are just getting by on things they know, and not actually using their intelligence to do anything with that knowledge and that scares them to death. So they are reduced to writing off her success as just being lucky , because of her looks, because the "elitists" supported her, because the press attacked her, because the sky is blue. Basically they'll give credit anything except the argument she's where she is because she is smart.

Yep, and that’s an apt comparison there, using something from the Bible, in what Jesus presented to us, for those who would go into His Kingdom here on earth, versus the ones who He will cast out, into the outer darkness, forever condemned.

The problem with the *conservatives* in regards to Palin isn’t intellectualism and/or the lack of it. That has nothing to do with it. The problem is the Christian worldview or the lack of it.

Just check out the Christian credentials of all those who are anti-Palin and *that* is where you’re going to “find a match” that fits their profile the best. It’s all coming from the anti-Christian worldview “conservatives” who are also the one who are wanting to kick “Christian thinking and/or values” out of the GOP (and out of conservative thinking).

They’re the ones who say that it’s okay to be a Christian and a conservative as long as you keep God behind the closed doors of the church and only use pre-selected “God-slogans” and religious sound-bites for GOP campaigning purposes.

These are the conservatives who are *pandering* — to those who have been part of the GOP and the conservative movement and believe the *source* of those conservative values (namely that conservatism comes from the Bible and Christianity). Those pandering RINOs and some anti-God conservatives will do all they can to kick God out of the party.

AND..., those same ones who want to kick God out of the conservative movement are right here on Free Republic, too. They reject everything of God that they can, dismissing any legitimacy for Christianity, the Bible or God in politics (but that’s not what the “people” think, that’s for sure...).

The reason why Palin is getting hammered and hit real hard on *all sides* — is because she represents what the Democrats hate and what a significant number of GOP leaders and conservative leaders want to *kick out of the party* — if they have anything to say about it.

So..., just check their “Christian credentials” and you’ll find which side of Palin someone is on.... :-)
