Gov Palin Has The Most Valuable Commodity A Presidential Candidate Can Have: A BASE
Governor Palin 4 President ^

Posted on 07/08/2009 12:51:27 PM PDT by MaxCUA

Roger Stone wrote a great piece entitled “Palin’s Palin.” He discusses how Governor Palin had nothing to gain and much to loose by staying as Governor. She is also not the first politican to follow this path and will have to repair the damage the media has done. He recommends The Governor could use Fox News “to re-tool her political image...and she can have 60 minutes each week to do it.”

The only people complaining about her move weren’t going to vote for her if she ran anyway. She’s got my vote if she runs.

Suggest you not use the term “The Base” to describe conservative voters, as “The Base” is a term from Marxist social theory.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_and_superstructure

Base and superstructure

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

“Base and Superstructure constitute the dialectical synthetic pair that is explicitly and implicitly common to every form of socialism. As used by Karl Marx the pair distinguishes the two essential bases of social orders from other, formative and persisting, social conditions.”

“In Marxist theory, human society consists of two economic parts: the Base and the Superstructure; the base comprehends the relations of production — employer-employee work conditions, the technical division of labour, and property relations — into which people enter to produce the necessities and amenities of life. These relations fundamentally determine society’s other relationships and ideas, constituting the superstructure; thus, the base determines (conditions) the superstructure, yet, their relation is not strictly causal, because the superstructure often influences the base; however the influence of the base predominates.”

Also when translated into Arabic it comes out Al Quida. Just a few bad connotations there.

Stone knows his stuff, and the only thing I’d disagree with him on is the suitability of a Fox show for her. I think she’s already got the Fox audience sewn up, and it might actually make it harder for her to reach to the middle in a way that she thinks she can. But print, radio and TV will all be good for her, perhaps more as a guest than as a host.

Base is a neutral word. The Marxists also use the word “Revolution”. It’s also not a bad thing.

The left always hijacks neutral or positive words. Liberal and progressive are words that could describe many aspects of Conservatism. It certainly describes a lot of me. But they are “owned” by the lefties now.

I don’t see base as tainted though. What oder word to describe the bedrock of support?

The biggest problem political analysts have in trying to figure out Sarah Palin is their assumption that her every move is motivated by political calculations. Sarah Palin will do what she thinks is right, regardless of the political costs or benefits.

In this regard, Sarah Palin is much like Ronald Reagan whom the political analysts couldn't figure out, either. It is this sincerity in both Palin and Reagan which attracted me to them and which is why I have such a problem with Romney.

>>> What oder word to describe the bedrock of support? <<<<

How about “bedrock of supporters?”

Or “supporters?”

Or “backer, benefactor, contributor, friend, patron, sponsor?”

Why “the base?”

Why not “the masses?”
