STUPID CONGRESS TRICKS- House Resolution Honoring Michael Jackson !?!?!

This falls into the "So Stupid you can't make this up" file. The Hill is reporting that

Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Tex.) introduced legislation to honor the late Michael Jackson.

The bill, entitled "A Tribute to an American Legend and Musical Icon," was introduced yesterday, and full text is not yet available.

But in a bizarre twist, the legislation has been referred to the….House Foreign Affairs Committee? Huh? Is this a bilateral resolution with Canada to jointly honor MJ's contribution to North American culture or something?

This resolution makes you think that Mother Teresa Died. This is just one more indication that our congress is out of touch with the people. Our country is going to hell in a hand-basket, they don't have time to read the stimulus or the cap and trade legislation but they can spend FIVE seconds of the people's buisness on this. I don't mean it to diss Michael Jackson, but there are REAL issues in this country to deal with. Ms Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Tex.)should be laughed out of congress, but I am sure there are other members who will take the time to read this bill (see below) but have skipped reading important bills.

Someone needs to keep track of this and if it gets to a vote, then mark the people who vote for it for replacement in 2010.

Truthfully, I’m surprised such a bill wasn’t introduced the day it was announced he died. It’s a “lookitme” bill, designed to get media attention for the person introducing it, not necessarily for the deceased.

Neverland should become a National Park and visitors must wear booties and a mask while they tour the roped area. No cameras should be allowed and talking must be held to a whisper to honor the gloved wonder. A mandatory contribution to keep the legend alive should be readily available all over the guided tour area and those who don't voluntarily contribute will be guided to the abridged tour and then escorted out through the back door.
