Bob Dole didn’t resign in the middle of his first term in major elected office.

So what?
Bob Dole was still elected to serve a full 6 years, and Dole realized that he could not be a full time Senator, and represent Kansas very well, as a Presidential candidate.

Obama, on the other hand, got paid by the United States Government to campaign for President -—

Obama never really gave a rip about being a US Senator from Illinois.

Bob Dole didn’t resign in the middle of his first term in major elected office.

Dole was the Republican Leader of the Senate, which the Republicans had just captured control of 1994. So that meant he resigned as leader of the Senate two years into the job. Sound familiar?

More importantly, it didn't matter whether he was 2 years or 20 years into the job. What mattered was that he was honest enough to admit that he couldn't do the job properly while running for President. It used to be we praised politicians for adopting that kind of attitude. My how attitudes have changed.
