Although Obama sympathizers managed to derail what would have been the areas largest Tea Party, they cound not stifle the movement. Over 7,000 patriots came to Jim Miller Park in Marietta to voice their disgust with Washingtons deaf ears.

We had, by official police count, 5,000 at the second Dayton Tea Party. This was as amazing as the first, in that it was actually in Brookville, a sleepy little town some 10 miles outside Dayton, far removed from the southern suburbs of Republican support.
I got to speak, and I used the old Chris Rock line from his movie where he ran for president, "That Ain't Right."

This event was where the tide should have turned. Having the first event site taken away by libs, the next site should have been downtown Atlanta ... people should have just “shown up” and walked along the sidewalks with their flags and banners. I came to Atlanta this weekend to visit my son and go to the Tea Party ... brought the Gadsden and 9 Stripe Vertical for us to display. I didn't go to the “change of venue” because it was “proof” that the libs are firmly in control. My protest was NOT to go to this one. Its time to go to the streets, people. Peacefully and in the same mode as Martin Luther King .., for FREEDOM and LIBERTY. What an opportunity missed yesterday.
I'm not going to "demonstrate" behind a lib-erected barrior in a lib-approved place. I'm only going to march in the streets ... and I will. I'm ready when you are.

I don’t consider it kowtowing to the libs by going to a Tea Party that was already scheduled before the Atlanta debacle. I agree that it would have been more impactful to demonstrate downtown, but I will not sit around waiting for others to do something. Rather than wait, I do.
I sat with my family in the pouring rain in February at the first protest. I was one of 300. I stood with the throngs in April. Thousands came yesterday. Please do not try to minimize those who protested in Marietta. Perhaps next time we’ll have a Tea Party that you feel is worthy of your support.
I’m sorry you missed the Cobb event... it was fantastic!

... I'm sure the Cobb event was great. But the only folks that "saw" it were the ones that were there, and most of the ones who "hear" about it will do so here at FR. You aren't going to get any media coverage until you take to the streets. And until there is media coverage, then we are not yet making a difference to OTHERS. Its just the choir singing to the choir. And that is our problem here at FR ... we talk to "ourselves" and really believe what we are saying to each other. But we need to get off our tails and go MAKE A DIFFERENCE, sanctioned or not, so OTHERS will begin to notice. We need to get out from behind the "designated" barricades that "define" the "limits of our freedom" ... space designated and sanctioned by our adversaries. Its time to take to the streets, people, OUR streets. We need to start "walking on THEIR space."
(...they dammed sure are WALKING on OUR space!)
