It is encouraging to remember that one-third of the new Americans still favored RULE by England, one-third did not care either way -— AND ONE-THIRD FOUGHT THE REVOLUTION AND WON our freedom. Keep the faith.

He was a man of honor, even if he didn’t agree.
He is 1 of many Loyalists (in belief, although he fought against the Brits and would thus be considered a Rebel) who stayed on and became a real American (no, not all of them were simply shunted out to Canada so “cruelly” - note how everything America ever did has to have a negative spin on it).
