The upcoming confirmation hearing, for the next Supreme Court Justice, presents both an opportunity and a risk for Republicans and the Conservative cause. The importance of these hearings cannot be underestimated. The argument can be won even if she is confirmed and here is how.
Whats At Stake. Obviously, whether Sotomayor should be on the Supreme Court is at stake but thats not all. This debate can should and will shape the debate over the next 3 Justices which Obama may be able to pick in the next 3 years - let alone if he gets four more years. Thus, Republicans and Conservatives should not look at this confirmation hearing as simply a question of one Justice - one vote. This debate will shape the Court, the next confirmation hearing, and America for decades to come.

She is a confirmation of ethnic and racial bigotry, the left can only dress this up as taking a stab at the usual white bogeyman. I think it is a cruel joke, and if one gets a lefty to try and explain it, invariably they turn out to sound like nazis persecuting Jews.
That does not make any sense. Whether she SHOULD be on the court is not "at stake". (in fact, it is pretty clear to me that she most definitely SHOULD NOT be on the Supreme Court)
What is "at stake" is whether she WILL be on the Supreme Court.
Even if they lose the Sotomayor battle, which they will, the Republicans have to put up an all-out fight to set the stage for the next liberal loony racist that Obama will appoint to the Court.
If Obama gets away without a fight on this racist loser, he will be emboldened to go even further left (possible?) on the next Court nominee.
It’s just awful that she gets overturned 85% of the time (updated to 6/7 yesterday) her cases come up before the SCOTUS and we’re all resigned to the possibility that she will be confirmed.
