Does Barack Obama Like Democracy?

Earlier this month Iranians took to the streets to protest what they saw as being fraudulent elections perpetrated by the repressive Iranian regime. In response, the regime worked to squash the protests by beating and killing Iranians in the street. America's president Barack Obama would not stand up and support real democracy in Iran. It took him days to say anything, and when Obama finally said something, it was so milquetoast it was embarrassing. It took him two or three more times to actually show any kind of backbone toward the Mullahs and Ahmadinejad, and even then it was obviously a reluctant gesture as he still didn't put his full support behind the protesters and their fight for freedom and democracy.

Now there's a upheaval in Honduras as its former president, Manuel Zelaya, tried to unilaterally - and illegally - change his country's constitution so he could increase his power. In other words, he wanted to tyrannically force himself onto the Honduran people. As a result, the Honduran Supreme Court stepped in to protect its country's constitution and ordered that Zelaya be removed from office. The military complied with that court order and now Zelaya is in exile in Costa Rica.

This time Barack Obama was quick to jump in and cry foul at Zelaya's removal by calling the Supreme Court's actions "not legal." He also has put his full support behind the ousted dictator by declaring that he is the only truly democratically elected leader of Honduras. Obama has joined with, of all people, Hugo Chavez, Daniel Ortega, and Fidel Castro in condemning Zelaya's removal.

So, this is the pattern that is forming with Obama: he refuses to support democracy in Iran by denouncing the fraudulent elections and supporting the protesters. At the same time he supports Zelaya's Chavez-inspired attempts to illegally change Honduras' constitution so it helps him maintain power, and denounces the Honduran Supreme Court's attempts to protect its constitution.

Based upon these two examples alone I have to ask: does President Obama like and respect democracy or is he deep down a latent and wannabe dictator himself?

Obama wants to be a KING. So of course he doesn’t like Democracy. To be kind is to say that he likes feudalism. In fact Marxism is much closer to his true belief system.

Of course he does...democracy is not the government we have in America, nor is it ever mentioned in the Constitution. This nation is a Republic.

The closer we come to a true democracy, the closer we come to anarchy and the ability for the marxists like Obama to "fundamentally change" our nation to a marxist model.

That is what he wants.

Again, Jeff, Obama doesn't like Democratic process. He'd prefer such untidy business be swept away so that he could rule by edict.

The Leftwingtards in Congress try to seem unconcerned but I think they know Obama will kill them first.

Obama wants to use and abuse and corrupt the democratic process. The further we come away from our true Repubilcan principles, which, along with our faith make up the foundation upon which this Republic is founded, the more people like Obama will be able to subvert the resulting true democracy they form so they can institute marxism and the rule by edict you speak of.

We are seeing it happen right before our eyes, but it has been building to this for several decades. Obama and his abettors and supporters feel they can hurry it along to completion now...but they could not be any more wrong. They are playing with a fire they will regret ever kindling.

Wadda ya mean “deep down” and “latent”?

It ain’t that deep and it’s pretty obvious.

0bama wants the dark side of democracy and despises the Republic we are *supposed* to have in the US. The dark side of democracy is “mob rule”. “Rule by the majority” (democracy) sounds fair and balanced and all that, but the example I always come back to is the angry mob ready to lynch a [suspected] horse thief or cattle rustler w/o trial. But this phenom, IMO, is exactly what 0bama wants. He and his party supporters/apparatchiks sense they are in a position to influence a bare majority of the electorate, just like in the November election. And they want to take that scant majority of stunningly misinformed fools, and morph it into a super-majority, into an overwhelming mandate to create this change and so-called reform his supporters think he is selling.

At root, of course, it’s just a thugocracy, and an especially vile one, rewarding supporters, creating enormous bureaucracies, and doing utterly nothing to help the downtrodden who flocked to him with their vain and nive hope. It’s stunning in that it encompasses an amazing spectrum, from masses of poor folks in our inner cities to mush brained do-gooder liberal elites, all the way to Goldman Sachs who will undoubtedly be in charge of trading carbon credits. One has to give him/them credit for assembling and apparently, at this early juncture, appealing to such a broad swath of the electorate.

But the whole edifice is fundamentally corrupt, it is a bribocracy, and it doesn’t give the slightest crap as to how much damage it might do to the country short or long term, nor does it care whom they run over with their bio-bus. It’s on first blush an awesome machine, but it more and more resembles a smash-and-grab operation on a staggering scale.

He liked it when he used it to get in power. Now he has no use for it.
