“If the Tea Party turnouts next month are not massive, and loud, the people of this nation probably aren’t worth saving”
I really hope the Tea Party turnouts ARE massive next month. It presents a viual sense of unity among conservatives. That being said, I have my doubts that they will be massive because of individuals sense of frustration that e-mail and calling campaigns to those who are supposed to represent conservative values don’t seem to be working—witness the 8 pubbies that voted for cap and trade. Our only hope is to start at state grass roots levels and weed out those who would destroy this country, not to keep reelecting those that the GOP would like to force feed to us. The GOP thinks we have no other options. In reality, yes we do if we become much more involved NOW. We need to be on the offense and quit playing defense.
And your kids still don’t get it? i am amazed by that. I just personally can’t imagine a 17 yo NOT getting it, if they have been raised in our political philosophy their entire lives. my kids, my kids friends, and our friends kids are all on the right page. so i have no experience with well-informed kids not getting it, which is why i assumed no talking to them had been done.
I’d like to see pictures of Mr Turner outside in the streets with his protest signs.
And while he is at it why not call for a protest on a certain day with guest speakers and him leading it.
Rush is one of the worst in the area you mentioned. His friendship with Bush has clouded how he talks about issues. I have been a long time listener of Rush, but his failure to address the COLB issue and providing cover for Bush concerning his socialist policies leaves me bewildered.
In this regard I consider Rush an inside the beltway guy.
And it would be nice if Rush would put his actions where his mouth is and lend his suppprt to the Tea Party movement by attending the one in DC coming up next month.
I fear for our son who, at 17, is completely unaware of what is going on around him
why is he unaware? why aren’t you filling him in? we have kids at home who are 20, 17 and 14 and each one of them knows EXACTLY what is going on and are vocal to their friends about it. We live in NoVA, and I work in DC, so i will be here in Sept.
Same here. We’ve been lecturing our kids on personal responsibility since they were old enough to understand. All through high school, they reported to me the fallacies told to them by some of their liberal teachers. They also told me which of their teachers were conservatives and how they were able to recognize them. My son bought me a “hammer and sickle Obomunism” T shirt for my birthday. He bought one for himself and wore it to the union grocery store (at which he has worked for over 7 years) on his day off.
I think we did a good job.
sounds like you did a great job! my 14 yo was the only conservative in her 8th grade social studies class, she stood her ground and supported her point of view every single day and was more informed than any of the kneejerk obama supporters in her class. the teacher, on her report card, commented on how impressed he was with her ability to defend her point of view, even though she was the only one in the class to hold it and he urged her to continue to do so.
Politics is the main topic of conversation in our house and it’s a discussion not a lecture. All 3 of mine have had the opportunity to speak out against the norm of political thought and will always come home and tell me whom they have identified as a lib as far as their teachers go.
Many have fought long lonely battles to save family members from themselves. Usually, while being denigrated by many that assume that “parents are always at fault”. In my experience parents are not at fault about half the time. The kids have their own minds and make their own judgments after they are taught what they should do. In fact regardless of up bring young adults are responsible for the decisions they make and no one else. If a person wants welfare because they are a victim of the system we on FR correctly identify that they are responsible for their lives. We tell them to get to work, educate themselves, make something of themselves, and help us build a positive future for our nation. How strange it is to see that so many think that kids that have drug or alcohol problems, hate their country, or work to destroy that very country are “victims” of their parents. Nonsense.
You are right to be alarmed. Our children are assaulted from so many directions that they are hard to catalog. The music they listen to inculcate immorality, drugs, and criminal activity. And let's not forget that they are taught to hate their country and embrace marxism and disregard what their parents teach them in the schools we send them to for an education. If you discuss politics, I am certain you have heard “Well communism has never really been tried”. Add to this peer pressure, movies, television, radio, and I submit to you that parents that teach personal responsibility, hard work, and patriotism, will loose more often than not. And my position is supported by empirical evidence. How many of our youth support the marxists?
So how did I do? My son is US Army, headed to Afghanistan. My daughter...still a work in progress but she is working now, making a positive contribution, and realizing just how right her parents were. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to comment in this area. :D)
I think we are already on the way down.
Good for you! my kids are still at home and dependent on us, as they are all students. i suppose i won’t be able to truly judge our success til they are on their own, but i would be very surprised should they change their stripes. For one thing, my husband and i come at this with the zeal of the converted. i was raised a DEM, by a blue collar union dem parents; my dad voted democrat til the day he died. My husband took off a semester of college to work for MO UDALL for president! we became conservatives AFTER reagan, neither of us voted for him. SO you must realize we know the other side, we present the other side’s point of view and we debunk it. that is the advantage of being converted, you know what the opposition thinks bc you once WERE the opposition. educating our kids has to be a priority and it has to be in depth and in context.
My kids listen to the same music, go to the same movies, but it’s entertainment, it’s not something that they internalize as a way to live their lives. I listened to the hippy music, read about Woodstock and the free sex/drugs/rock and roll generation, but it certainly didn’t influence me to adopt that lifestyle. If the family is morally/ideologically centered, i do not believe that many kids can be brainwashed, or influenced away from that ideology. I talked to my kids about morals EARLY. i would talk about the song that would come on the radio, the tv show that we just watched and what was wrong with the way it portrayed life, sex, etc. my feeling is that if you don’t provide a moral framework, then they will absorb the morality of popular culture, which means NO morality. IF you permit a vacuum to be created, then the popular culture will BECOME their morality. I think far too many parents, including freepers, just go along blithely without doing the indepth and intense education of moral/political philosophy and then are surprised when their kids go AWOL.
Absolutely correct. The time for talking and faxing and circle-jerking with our government masters is over. March and "vote" if you must, but this regime cares nothing for popularity or democracy. It loves power, it craves power, and it will kill you, your family, your state, and your entire country to keep itself in power.
I see one promising sign in the "do something" category, as opposed to the "march and talk and sing and moan" category: The massive purchasing of guns and ammunition.
These are not the tools of debate. They are the tools of reasserting freedom, and re-taking that which has been stolen from us.
Only stands a chance if the press is with you. Ask the Iranian version of "teabaggers". Talking to your senator and congressmen is fine, but they'll only talk to their own constituents, or those with big bags of money. My Congressman and Senators are fairly "safe" on most issues, as are those of most, but hardly all, conservatives.
I'm really beginning to understand how those in the old south felt when Lincoln was elected. We, unlike those in the Old South who seceded *before* Lincoln took office have seen what this pResident from Illinois, who has been in charge for but five months, *know* both what he's already done, and where he and the Congressional 'Rats, have clearly got the country headed.
Straight to Hell.
North or South? *\;-)
I think you were fortunate not to be corrupted. Good luck.
Eventually, yes. But not until their control is essentially total. That could be a while yet, maybe a few years.
>>It does equate to leftist. Colloquially if not by dictionary definition
That’s because our nation has been right of center since the beginning. Even during the Great Depression, the Congress and SCOTUS opposed FDR’s marxism.
So, by definition, radicals in the US have always been leftists.
But, now that the government is essentially devoted to marxism, and a significant percentage of the population has marxist leanings, the Right is suddenly thrust into a situation where they are opposed to the government (big or small). If the Right chooses to fight as politcal insurgents (i.e. radicals), then they might get noticed and be able to drive policy and public opinion enough to head off disaster.
If the Right chooses to accept “reality” as determined by the Left and the media, then we will spend a long time in the wilderness waiting for the suffering to become so great that all the people will join our cause. That’s reactionary, and while it will work eventually, it will cost this nation and all of humanity dearly.
John Adams was a member of the Sons of Liberty.
At most you could say that he was not as radical as his cousin Sam.
