The goods news is that many feel 'cap and trade' doesn't have a chance in the Senate; kinda like last June when most pundits said Obama didn't have a chance to win the White House.
The Lesson: Don't assume anything! Be pro-active 24/7.
Your senators need to know that you are not concerned about global warming, nor should he/she be worried. Educate them so they understand you do not want to pay taxes, nor have the economy disrupted by massive government intervention, just because temperatures go up and down naturally, like they have for eons.
We need to make sure we do not have a repeat of the "pro-Waxman 8" on the Republican side of the Senate. (Just think, if Waxman-Markey had been killed yesterday, everyone could focus on killing socialized medicine next. Instead, we now have to spread our resources across two major issues throughout the summer because of the "pro-waxman 8" - what a waste!)
Remember to also let your local/state officials know how you feel about 'cap & trade.' The same education is needed at these levels too!

Even if your senator is currently listed as against the bill, give them plenty of ammo to stay that way. Therefore:
WRITE EARLY! CALL OFTEN!
Doesn’t have a chance? I think we all have to contact our senators on this one. Even the ones who are planning to vote yes.

You’ve been out of touch? It passed yesterday with 40 dems voting against it and 8? Republicans voting for it.
This is where we will have to use the EPA’s own report against them in lawsuit against EPA. Going to have to overturn the Supreme Court ruling with some facts from one of their own. In report it said they were using out dated science. It also says that carbon not the cause!!!
Even the Supreme Court would have to revisit a ruling when new information is now available. Especially a report that was trying to be hidden.
It’s a wonder this did not pass with 90% support considering every mainstream news report presents this bill as being “anti air pollution.” Well, who else but mean Republicans want dirty air?! I am surprised they got 43 Dems to vote no. Good for them. It is good to know grassroots activism can still have an impact on this kind of bad legislation.

I agree. I would have preferred the bill to die in the house, but the fact that it passed the house so narrowly, when the house is so much more left-leaning than the senate, is a good sign IMO.

Okay. I had a feeling it was going to because I watched part of the debate thing on C-Span. Yahoo! News/AP and the rest of the MSM is busy talking about Michael Jackson. I almost think they poisoned him to distract people from this bill.
Well, CO2 is not air pollution. Without it plants cannot produce a little substrate called cellulose. That little sustrate allows plants to grow, and produce something called O2. We actually have a parasytic relationship with plants. If you lower levels of this gas, then you will lower levels of vegitation on the planet. We as people will then have less food, and less O2 to breathe.
Do we know who some of the Demo senators are who would oppose this? I thought I read Mary Landrieu might be one because most of the Dems in the LA House delegation voted no. If they get even a half dozen who would agree to a filibuster that could work IF no more than 2 or 3 Repubs broke ranks and support this trash. That is a big if since I suspect several GOP senators will want to show how committed to “the environment” they are.
When there have been higher levels of CO2 on the planet life has flourished. In times of lower levels life on the planet has decreased. Population contol regulated by the EPA worldwide.
