When asked about the message behind the ad, Calvin Klein spokesman said its "intention was to create a very sexy campaign that speaks to our targeted demographic."
Their intention was to garner attention, which they've done. Sounds like a pretty effective ad. Most of the people offended by the ad are not in the target demographic, and the fact that they are offended will increase the appeal of the product to many in the target demographic. Best thing to do if you don't like it is ignore it.

Calvin Klein’s been selling teen sex since the 1980s when a minor Brooke Shields told American audiences on tv ads that she went commando in her Calvin Klein jeans.

It’s only an effective ad if it sells jeans. That remains to be seen.
