Lancing Fitzgerald
American Thinker ^ | June 21,2009 | Clarice Feldman/Peter Lance

Posted on 06/21/2009 12:57:46 PM PDT by cricket

Peter Lance, author of Triple Cross, a book critical of Patrick Fitzgerald and in particular his handling of material and witnesses which handled otherwise might have prevented 9/11, details the latter's efforts to intimidate his publisher into censoring the book before it is published in paperback.

[Lance: While nobody invites litigation, I look forward to sitting across a table from Mr. Fitzgerald at a deposition. It would give me a chance to grill him the same way he’s gone after many others. I have a reporter’s notebook full of questions: Why did Al Qaeda master spy Ali Mohamed outmaneuver him for so many years? Why did Fitzgerald discredit the intelligence from Greg Scarpa’s Yousef sting? And why did the feds seem to ignore Sphinx Trading?]

There’s no doubt the crusader with scary-smart intelligence can dish it out. The question is, when confronted with his own track record, can he take it

Lance responds to posting(bold added):

Clarice,

Many thanks for this post. The 20 month campaign by Patrick Fitzgerald to kill my book TRIPLE CROSS which is critical of his performance as head of the Organized Crime & Terrorism Unit in the Office of the U.S. Atty. for the South District of New York, represents an unprecedented attempt at CENSORSHIP by a sitting U.S. official.

I would appreciate it if you would direct your followers in THE AMERICAN THINKER to my website where they can download all 32 pages of THREAT LETTERS that Fitzgerald sent to my publisher HarperCollins from October 11th, 2007 to as recently as June 2nd, 2009, seeking to have all existing hardcover copies of the book destroyed and to prevent the new updated trade paperback edition from ever seeing the light of day.

Here's a link to those letters and the extraordinary media coverage we've had in the last week, including Newsweek, N.Y. Magazine, The A.P. (Wash Post), The Chicago Sun Times and the Miami Herald, not to mention critical support from critics and bloggers online across the political spectrum.

Thankfully, HarperCollins stood behind me and stood up to Fitzgerald and the book was published last Tuesday, June 16th. As a measure of the public interest, it reached No. 1 today on AMAZON.COM's ESPIONAGE best seller's list.

To send a message to Fitzgerald and any other Govt. official seeking to ban a book critical of their performance in office, I would ask everybody who reads this to order TRIPLE CROSS from either amazon.com or b&n.com or to buy it at their local bookstore.

In the middle of the book there's a 32 page illustrated TIMELINE tracing the epic failures of the FBI and Dept. of Justice on the road to 9/11. Your followers can download it for free right now by pasting this url into their browsers:

Thought posting above from American Thinker could use even greater exposure. Big questgion; will Larry King do an interview. . .Brian? Charlie Rose? (Have they?) Will a movie follow? Good news; it is listed at No.1; and hope it stays there, for a very long time. . .This is one man doing a 'Woodward & Bernstein' (their shame that they NEVER went here.)

MSM interviews?

Not likely. There's too much exposure of the mis-, mal- and nonfeasance by the likes of Jamie Gorelick and other Clintonoids.

But on the other hand..

In the interviews Mr. Lance seems to avoid connecting President Clinton personally to anything to do with this (unless asked specifically) but easily connects every misstep by all GS and SES employees to Bush2.

Thankfully that kind of BDS is absent from the book or I would not have finished reading it. Like the book -- hate the interviews.

So interesting how we Illinois Conservatives love him for going after the corrupt RINOs and the Dems with no corruption. Illinois is, of course, the last 10 years of his life.

Yet, outside Illinois conservatives can’t give him a break for what he didnt do 15 years ago.

At some point we need to recognize that the most recent 10 years is much more important than ancient history... At least that is the viewpoint of us in Illinois.

Well. . .heard him last week doing interview and determined that I would read this; and then - forgot about it. Now; I am more determined and so will have it this week.

Of course, if he hits Clinton's head on; perhaps there would be no book; no interviews; and of course, those Clintonites worked for them. . .so; maybe we are to draw our own conclusions.

When I think of what Patrick Fitzgerald did to 'Scooter Libby'. . .and by association the entire Bush Administration. . .well, his 'Chicago influence' certainly comes home. Look forward to reading MORE.. .

Some of us in Illinois often wonder if Fitzgerald wasn’t trying to use the Plame thing as leverage for Chicago.

Karl Rove is very close to his college Buddy who was one of the key Leaders of RINO corruption in Illinois. Patrick Fitzgerald obviously wanted no nail the corrupt RINO. Maybe he hoped that he could pressure Rove into turning on Rove’s corrupt friend. Almost certainly, Rove knew pieces of corruption the RINO was involved in.

Perhaps you could be more specific? Not getting the connections you mention nor ‘reason’; but perhaps you just have to be there.

Karl Rove is college buddies with Bob Kjellander, who was GOP National Committeeman and Treasurer of the National RNC during the Bush-Rove years.

In Illinois Kj is part of what is known as THE COMBINE. This is a bipartisan group engaged in funneling money and power to the combine members and away from the base of both major parties. Kj specialized in the state hiring him to be a consultant for $800,000 or $1.2 million a gig. He did nothing as a consultant, except to spread a small piece of his take to RINOs to stay in his pocket and keep control of the party machinery. Others in the combine are Kj’s close friend, the indicted Bill Cellini who controls the road building contracts for his personal wealth and power.

Patrick Fitzgerald (and everybody in IL) know that Kj is crooked. But Fitz has been unable to build a case against Kj that will stand in court. As is common with prosecutors, they work their way up the food chain, trying to plea-bargain a light sentence for the little fish in return for the little fish talking about the big fish.

This is currently what Fitz is doing with Chris Kelly, chief fundraiser for indicted Gov Blago. It is what Fitz did for Scott Fawell in exchange for spilling the beans on Combine Republican Governor George Ryan. Fitz has gone aggressively against both the R and D wings of the bipartisan combine.

The R wing of the combine is mostly RINOS. You don’t have to be a RINO. But the combine corruption makes Illinois government about 10% more expensive than normal government inefficiency. That means 10% higher taxes, which helps define a RINO, at least in IL.

Kjellander and Cellini ... and former governor Big Jim Thompson of the bipartisan 911 commission ... are the triad at the top of the RINO food chain in Illinois. Since Kj and Rove are very close, it was speculated that Fitz was seeking to get Rove to talk about Kj. It is just speculation. I’ve never heard Fitz say it. But that is certainly the way Fitz works.
