Once upon a time, just over six years to be exact, Liberals called the Iraq War a lost cause; an illegitimate war based on Americas colonial greed to seize Iraqs vast oil resources and oppress peace-loving Muslims. Of course, as we all know, a brutal dictator was brought to justice, much of a countrys infrastructure rebuilt, and free elections held for the first time in over 25 years. The actual war itself lasted approximately one month, with victorious American forces left to serve as peacekeepers; a job the United Nations abandoned solely to spite the United States, and in proxy, the Iraqi people. Yet, during this period, countless Democrats railed against the failed war, demanding an immediate withdrawal of troops. The mainstream media fueled this angst, or I should I say manipulation, by running an endless barrage of negative stories to sway public opinion and further their political agenda. Liberals held protests nationwide by depicting America as a murderous regime that sent an entire generation of Americans to their death. However, if the truth be known, roughly 4,000 soldiers had died in six years, nearly 20,000 less than one very well documented day of battle during the Civil War.
As recent as the first week of November 2008, Democrats, but specifically President Barack Obama, told Americans that the war would be brought to a swift end; that the failed policies of George Bush and the US Military would be immediately addressed and corrected. Oddly, nearly six months into his term, our brave men and women are still serving in Iraq and arent scheduled to return home until the summer of 2010 at the earliest: which is ironically almost the exact same timetable President Bush announced in order to assure that a power vacuum was not created in Iraq, and thus, our extensive efforts wasted. So the question is what exactly has changed?
Gone are the endless media reports of casualties, the cost of war, and the failed foreign policy of the belligerent Leviathan, otherwise known as the Unites States of America. Gone are the myriad of bombastic protests; once spurned on by the leftist propaganda of news outlets, liberal celebrities and advocacy groups on almost a daily basis. And also gone is the stigma of doubt, now replaced by a daily onslaught of opinion polls designed to show unflappable support for Obamas borrowed foreign policy, conveniently hidden in the smoke and mirrors of public perception otherwise known as demagoguery. Now, despite the fact nothing has truly changed, the prevailing mantra is Yes We Can and were doing the right thing for America. Yet, as a breathing, thinking, and proud citizen of this great country, dare I ask what has truly changed in these short months? Are these not the same people who abandoned our fighting men and women on numerous occasions by saying the war was lost that the cause had nothing to do with terrorism or human dignity? Did they not laugh at the assertion that Iran and North Korea were rogue, nefarious nations hell bent on possessing nuclear weapons and spreading fear across the globe? Did they not brand George Bush as inept and dangerous for sticking to his guns in regards to protecting America, our borders, and the freedom loving peoples of the world? Did Democrats and the liberal media not lie, cajole, and conspire to propagate their personal political agenda, no matter what the consequences were for America, in order to seize power?
Now I ask you, how is that doing the right thing, when it was the right thing to do just eight short months ago? An election is more than just a referendum on America, its a referendum on your senses. Yes You Can!
God Bless!
While Pres Bush was in office, mainstream media would keep a daily count of our soldiers being hurt or died. MSM made big headlines and put together protests against the US by Iraqis all other anti-American news. Since the fraudulent POS took office, MSM hasn’t printed any about our soldiers. That’s hypocrisy.
Yep, I couldn’t agree more. They twist the news solely to serve their agenda, not for the well being of our troops or for America. They will do anything to paint Obama in a positive light and did everything in their power to make Bush look like a villain. It makes me ill.
George Bush did not protect our borders - especially with Mexico. George Bush is a good man with good intentions but he was incompetent as president and he, with his republican party weasels brought about the complete disaster of Barak Osama/Obama.
As far as Iraq is concerned, we never should have thrown away the political and material resources to invade a country on the other side of the world because of what they might have done with what they might have had. Iraq posed so little threat to this country compared to other sources that it was one the worse decisions in world history to commit such critical resources to that fiasco. Iraq might come out better off, but the USA is obviously not better off because of that ill advised effort (ie. president Obama). It is not our place to be the policeman of the world - see the founding fathers.
The GOP’s largest mistake was joining with Democrats in demonizing Bush, who faced an unprecedented 8 years of attacks and undermining of his administration from the Democrats and their leftist cabal.
Obama was not a mistake brought about about 8 years of Bush, but by 14 years of planning, setting the stage and demonizing conservatism, ridiculing Republicans (many of who brought it on themselves) and by craftily protecting their own from exposure.
During this time, they stacked courts, schools, corporations and government as well as their support groups with plans of a complete takeover, while we sat back and cringed and refused to support Bush or his worthy causes (other than the War on Terror.)
We failed to protect good Representatives we had while Democrats attacked at every chance.
We failed to get behind Bush and watch his flanks, while demanding better performance from him in regards our borders.
We failed because we got complacent after 1994 and whenever a Republican was thought to be or accused of outside our own definition of a conservative, demanded their expulsion, while patting ourselves on the backs that we were “clean.”
Mark Foley was gay, but broke no laws. Tom DeLay was accused, but has not been tried. The list goes on and on, but the point is, these were our strong players on our behalf and we abandoned them for some Puritan ethic that allowed the Democrats to drive that wedge between the GOP.
At the same time, we replaced some with weaker Republicans, thinking they were “clean” when they were more left than some Democrats.
No, don't put it all off on Bush, accept your part as well.
I did not put it all off on Bush, I put it on the whole republican party as well. The whole party spent too much and grew the size of government when they controlled congress. They all decided to squander billions on the mistake of invading Iraq. They all accepted the influence of special interest money. Both parties are corrupted by a political system which is broken and under the influence of special interest money and it will not get fixed in an environment dominated by corrupt liberal media. What part in that mess is my responsibility?
Since you ask,

Spoken like a true Ron Paulistenian.
The only thing "ill-advised" in acting to prevent another and even worse attack like 9/11 was the whining weasels behind Ron Paul and the leftist cabal of the Democrats.
The constant drone of undermining of both Bush and some Republicans, who were ousted by some puritan ethic of some Republicans, played right into the leftists hands, giving them reason to keep up the attack, as per Saul Alinksy's Rules for Radicals #4, #5, #8 & #11.
