I have a hard time believing that she is so dense as to have never spent any time contemplating the rights of the unborn. Surely, even the most hardened and unforgiving abortion advocates have at least thought about it, even if they have consciously chosen to ignore the results of doing so. Which leaves option 2. As in pants on fire, hanging on a telephone wire.

Well, she attended a Catholic high school in NY, graduating in 1972. Roe v Wade was 1973. But what Roe did was mandate the abortion license for the entire country, stripping states of the right to prohibit it if they so desired. In fact, abortion had been legal in NYState since about 1967. It's legalization was opposed by the Catholic Church in New York. And the sanctity of human life was emphasized in biology and religion classes in all Catholic high schools. So, as a high school student and, if she attended Mass, as a parishioner, she heard abortion discussed extensively while still a teenager. I suspect she is no longer—if she ever was—a practicing, believing Catholic. Most likely she is a Biden, Kerry or Kennedy Catholic, not a Catholic at all, really.
