House Dems. offer support to Michelle Obama after ape slam
House Democrats are offering a resolution in support of First Lady Michelle Obama.
The Democratic Caucus agreed unanimously Tuesday to draft a resolution condemning the words of Republican activist Rusty DePass, who last week compared the escape of a gorilla from Columbia’s Riverbanks Zoo to First Lady Obama’s ancestors.
DePass has not apologized for the comments to the satisfaction of several S.C. lawmakers.
Rep. Leon Howard, D-Richland, told the caucus that if it failed to put up the resolution, the Legislative Black Caucus would, though Howard said he preferred the full caucus to act.
Rep. Ken Kennedy, D-Williamsburg, said he will take to the House floor today to speak about DePass’ comments.

Leon Howard
“I wanted us to take a stand,” Howard said. “We needed to tell the world that in South Carolina, when one person speaks with a false tongue, the rest of us are not like that — ignorant, backwoods and uneducated.”
“The Council of Fashion Designers of Americas special tribute award went to the first lady, considered a new player in this world.”
The only explanation is that they were all drunk.
Egads! Big a**, pigeon-toed, bow-legged m’obozo a fashion plate? Remember Washington Post early on was calling her that too. Bleah! If that’s their interpretation of fashion, count me out. I create my own.
I am sorry, Michell Obama looks more like a sasquatch in what she wears. She has no taste, and her style is something I would not force on a hated enemy.
Not only is she not a beautiful person, or a good looking one, she dresses HORRIBLY. Whats funny is that she is making a laughing stock out of the Media who are, in vain, trying to sell her as a style Icon.
In Michelle’s case, Style Icon = Goodwill 5 dollar grab bag. Not to put too fine a point on it...
