Safe Harbor – A beautiful but rare true life story

“My” birds came back to my water tank this morning. I had not seen more than one or two since I got here in late April. This morning we had 7” inches of new snow and I as I always do cleaned my deck early in the morning. I looked up to see a small flock (5 or 6) birds in the tree near my water tank. I cleaned the top of the tank and put out a mix of whole wheat bread crumbs and regular bird seed. Not 5 minutes after I out out the food I had 20+ birds at my feeding station.

About an hour ago one bird hopped onto my window sill and started watching me. It looks like the same one who has done it for a couple of winters. He was telling me that they wanted more food. I set out more food!
