The handwriting has been on the wall for years.
Ever since Idi Amin drove all of the Indian business people out of Uganda about 30 years ago it has been very clear what the goal of these dictators has been-nationalization and confiscation of all non-black businesses and farms.
Oh, the Indian shopkeepers left, but the “new owners” had no idea how to run a small business.
My advice to all white farmers and small business owners in Africa, South of the Sahara desert-get out now!
The story of the Indian shopkeepers who had their stores expropriated by blacks soon after the end of colonial status was widely reported in the news at the time. But most have since forgotten it.
A good book to read about post-colonial Africa and it’s problems is V. S. Naipaul’s novel, “A Bend in the River.” Its very well done, and also very informative about what happened when the Africans gained their “freedom” from colonialism.
Needless to say, Naipaul is no longer taught in most college courses on post-colonial literature, although he is probably the best of them.
