Who is this woman? She knows nothing about Machiavelli. The man was not about dishonesty or even selfishness. He was a student of human nature. As such he advised the rulers of his time to find the thing a person wants and use that as a lever to advance one’s own goals. This is called enlightened self interest—not selfishness.

Deviousness and Machianvellian have become sononomous (sp? I’m having a senior moment). But, he was really anything but devious. Everyone should read his book. It’s not very long and says all there is to say about human nature. All the psychiatry that has come and gone over the years has added nothing to his observations.
