Schlussel makes a good point: Bristol represents something like 40% of American households now--the mom led, no-father-in-sight household. The Palins, if they can't get Levi to the altar, should encourage daughter to find a husband, or at least let Todd go to work. The more we invest in this image, the less we're going to be able to sell the country on "conservative" values.

Huh? They should have nothing to do with that SOB Levi who dumped Bristol then went tabloid on them. 'encourage her to find a husband'? Huh? Maybe take out an ad? 'let Todd go to work?.. another Huh? His job is seasonal..

Relying on People magazine for what is actually going on in the household is really stupid.

The issue, of course, is how credibly we can sell limited government when our marquis party “family account” looks like a poster child for expanded federal family services.

looks like Todd will have to take over raising the child after his daughter dies of skin cancer from her tanning.

The device has yet to be invented that could measure the miniscule amount of indifference I have to this “story” or this “reporter” or, most especially, this rag it’s printed in...

She is RIGHT ON!

excerpt:

Way to discourage teen sex and promote abstinence. If you have sex, you might get pregnant. But then your dad will quit his job and stay home and raise your baby, while you go tanning.

Yes, we’ve found a winner. Todd Palin, most whipped man in America. Whipped not just by wifey. But by baby mama daughter, too.

Sorry, but no matter how much conservatives try to turn their principles upside down for the Palins and suddenly support the Mr. Mom lifestyle, facts are facts. And one fact is that gender role blurring isn’t good for America.

Remember, matriarchies fail. There isn’t a single one that has survived history, despite what feminists want you to believe. And being a Mr. Mom has to be one of the most emasculating jobs in America. Men whose wives bring home the bacon while they stay at home and change diapers are generally not happy and don’t do this out of choice. Men who do this simply don’t have the power in their relationship. The chick does. Double all of that with men whose wives AND daughters have put them in that position.

Todd Palin . . . Doing the job that some Americans (Sarah and, now, Bristol Palin) just won’t do.

We don’t need THIS as a role model family.

Todd and Sarah should be ashamed.

Both she REQUIRE Bristol raise her own child.

Trying to be charitable to Todd, then, is this really the family you want selling limited government?

The issue really is how can we ever win when we let the media define us and take every little day to day issue and blow it up while our party doesn’t have the balls to stand up and say that these stupid attacks are BS. As long as we let the left and the cowards (who claim to be) on the right define us, we’ll never win.

What kind of nut makes this kind of statement?

Absolutely,
With all their hardships, I sure don’t see them taking welfare. They are an example of success in spite of hardships.

The Palin’s don't offer “conservative values” but wow do people jump all over you when you point that out. I don't want Sarah as my next President. If she and her husband can't manage their kids, I don't want her running the country.

“Debbie does Palin”

Again. and again. and again.
Give it a rest Debbie. We know you suffer from PDS (Palin derangement syndrome)

I liked Debbie better when her writing was focused against Dearbornistan.

Have you got evidence that this is UNTRUE?

The Palins are NOT helping. It would be one thing if Levi and Bristol got married, or Bristol said no to “People” but they are making a circus out of their singularly poor string of choices.
