More federal funding for ACORN despite indictments
The Washington Examiner ^ | May 24, 2009 | Editorial

Posted on 05/24/2009 4:41:18 AM PDT by Scanian

Under the guise of due process concerns, congressional Democrats have opened the way for organizations with criminal histories to gain greater access to taxpayer funds. Exhibit A here is the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN), now under investigation in at least 14 states for voter registration fraud.

Earlier this month, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Rep. Barney Frank, D-MA, sponsored an amendment to the $140 million Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act. The Frank measure allowed organizations being investigated by state or federal authorities on corruption charges to receive federal funds as long as they avoid conviction. Frank argued that his amendment, which was approved by the House, protected the presumption of innocence in federal spending.

But federal ethics rules have long stipulated that either an actual or apparent conflict of interest can put a government employee at risk of prosecution for ethics violations. So, if the Frank amendment becomes law, the federal government will have a double standard, ignoring the presumption of innocence for its employees with apparent conflicts of interest, but extending the presumption to its funding recipients.

ACORN claims to be non-partisan, but it and its many affiliates have ardently supported Democratic incumbents and candidates at all levels of government. For example, the Obama campaign in 2008 paid more than $880,000 to Citizen Services Incorporated, an ACORN affiliate that helps organize get-out-the-vote efforts that always seem to focus on heavily Democratic precincts. Seen in this light, the Frank amendment has the look of a pay-back from grateful Democrats, especially since, as The Examiner has previously reported, ACORN is eligible for billions of dollars under the Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Democrats cannot exclude from funding organizations with criminal histories. If they did exclude them, the Democrats could not fund ANY of their friends.

Continue shoveling the paper money into dump trucks....we're broke according to Oboma. Our credit rating will fall under the UK's very soon.

Zimbabwe will have nothing on US. It took the US decades to become the world's economic power and it is taking only one presidential term to reach third world economic status.

If you see a Democrat Marxist be sure to thank him (or her).

ACORN's Illegal Activities and Mafia-Style Tactics in Congress’s Spotlight
Family Security Matters | March 23, 2009 | Chris Carter
FR Posted 03/27/2009 by Crush

Members of Congress heard testimony against the activist group ACORN on Thursday, exposing the group's illegal activity and mafia-style tactics.

Pittsburgh lawyer Heather Heidelbaugh appeared before the a House Judiciary subcommittee alleging that the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) has violated campaign finance and tax laws in addition to their protest-for-hire and coerced donations.

The source of the accusations was from the sworn testimony of ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief, who was a clerk for ACORN's sister organization called Project Vote.

MonCrief, a Democrat and Obama supporter, testified last year that Barack Obama's campaign gave Project Vote a "donor list" of people who had contributed the maximum amount allowed by federal law. According to Heidelbaugh's testimony, the donors were to be targeted to donate to ACORN's "Get Out the Vote" efforts and finance voter registration drives.

Heidelbaugh revealed in her testimony that there is virtually no separation between ACORN and Project Vote, as employees working for one group would perform work for the other. (Excerpt) Read more at familysecuritymatters.org ...

Installment payment due? Down payment on 2012? Front half of a really large kickback scheme? All of the above?

More federal funding for ACORN despite indictments.

More federal funding for ACORN because of indictments.

ACORN is effectively doing precisely what it is supposed to be doing: a taxpayer funded criminal thug gang to expand the power and fear of the democrat party.

THE END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS
Obama campaign gave ACORN affiliate $800,000 for get-out-the-vote effort.

REFERENCE---NYPost EDITORIAL, 10/15/08
VOTE FRAUD: SEND IN THE FEDS (ACORN fraud corrupting elections)

EXCERPT ACORN, has caught the attention of prosecutors in both Ohio and Indiana. The bipartisan board of elections in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, voted unanimously Monday to ask the local DA to investigate multiple allegations of fraud - including the case, first reported by The Post, of Freddie Johnson, who admits he was paid by ACORN to register 72 times.

Indiana's top elections officer asked the state attorney general to investigate reports that ACORN submitted thousands of fraudulent registrations in the Indianapolis area. Overall, at least a dozen states are looking into ACORN-submitted registrations.

In Bridgeport, Conn., some 20 percent of the group's submitted registrations have been deemed fraudulent; in Houston, it's 40 percent. Anything that widespread and systemic can't be handled solely at the state level. It's time for the US Justice Department and federal prosecutors to get involved. At a press conference yesterday, an ACORN official said, "Yes, we know there's been fraud," but blamed "some bad apples in the bunch."

....registrations start turning up everywhere with names like Mickey Mouse, Dick Tracy, Mary Poppins and Jive Turkey - not to mention the entire Dallas Cowboys starting lineup - it's not hard to discern a pattern.

Clearly, ACORN has been trying to overwhelm local election boards with registrations so as to clog the system before Election Day - making it that much more difficult to root out fraud.

Which is why ACORN - whose affiliate got $800,000 from the Obama campaign for a get-out-the-vote effort - is so laid-back about fraud. . SOURCE http://www.nypost.com/seven/10152008/postopinion/editorials/vote_fraud__send_in_the_feds_133634.htm

If the drive-by media spent 1/10 the time investigating Barney Fwank’s role in the subprime meltdown as it did investigating Bristol Palin, the Banking Queen would be under indictment.
