Re recidivism: I was thinking the same thing. Any psychiatrist who could claim that 6 out of 7 child molesters, or murderers, or other felons, did not re-offend would be jumping up and down with professional pride and clamoring for an expansion of his supervised release program.
I rubbed my Dick Cheney statue and it gave me this wisdom:
“Fear of being waterboarded washes terrorism right out of Gitmo detainees’ hair...”

“Waterboarding is a better deterrent than taking away cable TV privileges.”
