THROW AWAY THE SCABBARD

What if Stonewall Jackson had survived Chancellorsville?

In this alternate history, Jackson survives Chancellorsville. With Jackson leading his Second Corps in an invasion of the North, the war shifts from the Virginia wilderness to the Pennsylvania countryside. After the Army of Northern Virginia wins a stunning victory on the banks of the Susquehanna, General Ulysses S. Grant comes east to drive the Confederates from northern soil. But when Grant fails to dislodge Lee's army, President Abraham Lincoln risks all in a desperate attempt to win the war and restore the Union.

Throw Away the Scabbard is the first book of a trilogy that provides the exciting answer to the Civil War's most enduring question: What if Stonewall Jackson had survived Chancellorsville?

Well write it. If I can do it, you can do it.

Congrats. I’ll add it to my list after I finished the latest Preston and Child and the latest Dale Brown.

Yep, something along the lines of JFK does get shot, but not fatally. LHO is captured alive and gives up the Mafia/Military plotters, resulting in the end of organized crime. JFK, fully recovered, is re-elected, takes out Castro. Cuba and Puerto Rico become states. He continues his tax cuts, the economy goes wild and Viet Nam never happens as the Commies are too afraid of the USA.

My version: JFK gets shot at, but not hit, and realizes it was Johnson's associates that did the deed. JFK takes an immediate presidential executive maneuver to protect himself from further attack. Bobby Kennedy's investigation reveals LHO was a CIA agent meant to be a patsy. LBJ, J Edgar Hoover, CIA officials, the Dallas Police Chief, and LBJ's goons are hanged in a style reminiscent of Lincoln's attackers. The Great society is avoided enabling us to establish ties to the nations around Vietnam to stop the domino effect rather than jumping into a war already half-lost by the French and the South Vietnamese.

Castro is Castro...what can you do about an Island paradise...as Plato says, those climes do not encourage a nation of character.

Rare but well deserved ping to the old Foxhole crowd!

Congratulations carton253 and Yippeee. Sam and I are so excited. I can certainly write a review...It's wonderful.

FReepers, we were fortunate enough to read the manuscript and couldn't put it down. Since then we have been anxiously waiting for the next book We are so happy this is being published!

We absolutely love it and encourage anyone interested in Civil War history, or in alternate history to buy this book! You'll enjoy every page. I just loved how carton253 brings to life the characters of JEB Stuart, Sandie Pendleton and even General Lee's cook among others. We really felt like we got to know them.

Congratulations!

If you ever feel like moving on into the 20th Century, a "what-if" would be interesting if Patton had never slapped that soldier in Sicily.

Thanks, snippy. I’ve seen what authors go through to get a book written and in shape to publish. It’s a really arduous process and I admire anyone who accomplishes it.

I have a sinking feeling you’re going to have to start a new series titled, “What if America had Survived Obama”.
