I like John Ziegler. He is only one of a very few to confront the MSM on their own turf and make them look like the complete fools they are. He destroyed little Davy Shuster. This is a guy we need on our side.

When I first came across Ziegler on KFI, I didn't like him for a couple of reasons.

First, they had him on during good ol' Kook to Kook (that's a fellow FReeper's great name for Coast to Coast AM, the classic loony-bin wacko national late night radio show started by Art Bell and always entertaining with Big Foot "experts," UFO conspiracists, psychics, ghost sightings, and all that stuff ... GREAT listening, really fun stuff). I resented that Ziegler replaced my favorite doing-the-dishes radio listening. Second, Ziegler badmouthed things that at the time, I thought were good. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Turns out ol' Zeigler was RIGHT.

Then KFI moved him to the 6 - 9 (maybe 7 - 10) p.m. time slot, and I got into the habit of listening while I cooked dinner. The more I listened, the more I realized that Ziegler was a true blue conservative (not an expedient counterfeit like other KFI hosts such as John & Ken, Bill Handel, and KABC hosts Al Rantel and John McIntyre, who are NOT in any way conservatives and can only be construed as "on the right" because they're not quite all the way on the left).

Better, Ziegler was REALLY RARE among radio hosts in that he was such an original thinker. Hosts like Hannity and Laura Ingraham are as predictable as sunrise and often just tiresome and predictable in the issues they'd cover and takes they'd have on them. Ziegler was NEVER predictable and he was also clearly more concerned with principle than popularity. I was so glad to hear him take the unpopular but right position on Ramos and Campeon -- I had read the details of the case; clearly Ramos and Campeon were bad renegade cops who lied and tried to cover up a bad power play. UNDERSTAND that these are the kinds of cops who will be the FIRST to presume authority to take your guns away because they're cops and you're not. Everybody is endangered by cops like those two guys, but emotions clouded reason because they guy they shot turned out to be an illegal immigrant and drug dealer. Blind emotion is the only reason the right adopted these two corrupt cops as "heroes," and Ziegler was the only pundit I ever heard that had the balls to point out that R&C were corrupt, and that's why they belonged in jail -- not outside of it because the guy they shot happened to be an illegal drug dealer.

Aside from all that, Ziegler is really a very gifted talk show type, with a rare talent for using his voice just right, his brain just right, to keep the show interesting. He is really a world-class talent; the only local L.A. host (at the time) even approaching his skill and talent was Larry Elder on KABC. All the other local hosts were amateurs in terms of professional skills compared to Ziegler. So when KFI fired him, I knew that its management was inept and stupid, and double so when I listened to the empty-headed numbskulls they hired to replace Ziegler -- it was like a restaurant replacing Prime steak with ground turkey and expecting customers to think it was an improvement.

Can you tell that I became a pretty big fan of Ziegler?? I really hope that Ziegler gets a good time slot that isn't up against Rush or Mark Levin, the only two talk show hosts that, for me, would be competition.

Great post! Thanks for revealing more about Mr. Ziegler. The more I hear of him, the better I like him. I’m with you: I hope he gets a good time slot. He does say we can pick him up on the net starting in June. I’ll make a point of listening.

Media Malpractice was excellent. Everyone needs to get a copy.

PS: Art Bell’s Kook to Kook was also a guilty pleasure for me. The latest version is a very pale imitation at best.
