Detroit Free Press: Obama Ushers in Era of Oppression of Free Speech?
Publius' Forum ^ | 5/07/09 | Warner Todd Huston

Looks like it is just starting to dawn on some lefties that Obama is ushering in an era of oppression of free speech. So it seems for Laura Varon Brown of the Detroit Free Press, at least. Oh, she isn't saying that Obama himself is trampling on free speech, but she is starting to understand that the left's penchant for political correctness is serving the function as a sort of self-imposed oppression no matter what Obama says. It's getting so bad, according to Brown, that any criticism of Obama is treated as akin to treason... at least it is in the "circles" she runs in, anyway.

Brown can count herself in the same boat as the late-night comedy shows that are finding that any criticism of The One is verboten to their left-wing audiences. Even the supposedly unshakable Bill Maher, who congratulates himself on his bravery for taking on the establishment, has found that he's had to shy from criticizing Obama. These people are seeing that attacking "The Man" is not so funny when it is their man in the crosshairs. Suddenly such folks have a new-found respect for the office and a more circumspect behavior toward the president is now du jour.

How odd we no longer seem to see any more of those once-popular “Dissent is Patriotic” bumper stickers. Suddenly dissent is treasonous, I guess.

I wonder when we will see a “Little 0bama” cartoon.

The fact is that even hate speech is protected under the First Amendment. The First Amendment makes no distinction between politically correct and politically incorrect speech. It just says speech period.

FYI:
Detroit Free Press is very leftist/statist.

Detroit News is more balanced.

My yard signs haven’t been pulled down yet.

Guess the only people willing to oppose the 0bamanation are Conservatives willing to stand up to him and speak truth.

There’s no way the 0bamabots can repudiate the truth. They can bully and act like the street-thugs they are, but all the opponents have to do is speak documented truth because truth needs no defense . . . truth is its own defense.

All the yammering about the RNC is split, the RNC needs their own version of Obama, and other theories are misguided strategies.

The RNC needs to go back to the constitution and the ideals of the country’s founders.

Be the liberty party.

Jim, I realize that one of the source sites is not any kind of favorite of yours. However, I believe that site still ‘outs’ some crucial factual info that few other sites will touch.

END TIMES “A” LIST PING

Here’s some sobering links hinting at the ‘demise’ of the internet in at least some ominous aspects/respects:

The oligarchic, communist, socialist globalist powers that be are not in favor of info about their evil schemes spreading so easily on it. I wonder what time frame Murdoch’s ‘soon’ entails.

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread448462/pg1

According to the great-grandson John D. Rockefeller, nephew of banker David Rockefeller, and former Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller the internet represents a serious threat to national security. Rockefeller is not alone in this assessment. His belief that the internet is the “number one national hazard” to national security is shared by the former Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell and Obama’s current director Admiral Dennis C. Blair.

and from:

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread461343/pg1

Billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch gave a strange response when asked about plans for mainstream news websites to charge for content, declaring, “The current days of the internet will soon be over.”

He was making reference to the fact that corporate media websites cannot continue to survive under their current failing business model.

The establishment media is dying and advertising revenue has plummeted as people turn to blogs and the alternative media for their news in an environment of corporate lies and spin.

Rupert Murdoch: “Internet Will Soon Be Over”

Interesting comments coming from one of the biggest leaguers of corpo-media rule...

Following senator Rockefeller’s chilling innuendo’s here:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I can’t say I would be the least bit surprised if the corpo media giants are figuring out a way to phase out the net as we know it into a new, tightly controlled version, i.e. “internet 2” where access to data becomes limited or PAY ONLY to get info other than the kool-aid brain-washing garbage spewed out by the likes of Murdoch’s and other Elitists networks...

Another one to keep an eye on-—They are busy scheming people...

Quix, thank you for the ping. I was able to listen to Glenn Beck this morning. Fascinating interview about changes in the FCC regs and how the proposed changes will “take down” talk radio (which is viewed as dangerous as the internet is in terms of the free, unrestricted exchange of ideas).

Per Beck’s guest (his name escapes me right now) these FCC ownership changes could begin in as little as 90 days! The ownership ‘diversity’ sets the wheels in motion for all the other plans.

HORRIFIC!

And to think . . . even some FREEPERS are still asleep.

And some Christians still cannot believe—WILL NOT—believe that we are in the END TIMES.

Shocking cluelessness.

They could use the same ones where Bush was made monkey-like.

Just darken the skin and change the text.
