Meet the National Council for a New America - The Good News and the Bad
Canada Free Press ^ | May 5, 2009 | JB Williams

In an April 30, 2009 press release, House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) issued a welcome statement announcing the formation of the National Council for a New America, which is reportedly a forward-looking, grassroots caucus intended to bring together Congressional leaders and the people, with a national panel of “experts.”

That’s the good news!

(snip)

So, who are these “experts” that will lead the pro-American Right, back to its rightful place in national leadership? And, before we start talking about solutions, can we please properly define the problem?

Eric Cantor says:

“This forum will engage in a conversation with America that seeks to remove ideological filters, addresses the realities we are confronting, and speaks to the challenges our citizens are facing.”

Can you read between the lines?

I can, this is just more of the "Kinder, Gentler", "Big-Tent" garbage that two Bush Presidencies brought us as the GOP walked away from the small government, socially and morally conservative, strong military policies of Ronald Reagan.

Sorry, wrong group at any time for the GOP.

Absolutely LOVE this part of the column and agree with it 1000%...

Our National Panel of Experts:

Governor Haley Barbour
 Governor Jeb Bush
Governor Bobby Jindal
Senator John McCain
 Governor Mitt Romney

Sorry Eric, but your train has already left the track! You barely pulled away from the station and already, you’re off in the ditch.

For starters, a third Bush is not a charm. In my opinion, GW was a better president than his daddy, and far better than Clinton or Soetoro. But seriously, the last two Bushes have cost the GOP everything that Reagan built. Enough with beating the Bush’s already! Sorry Jeb, you’re a nice guy. Now go home and fish with your dad and brother while you can. You have already served your country well!

Next… John McCain? - I can’t even make myself comment on this one...other than to just say—seriously?

Mitt Romney… Finally, someone who really is an “expert,” - Not in how to win elections, but I understand he’s pretty bright on the topic of free-market economics. Put him in charge of that!

Haley Barbour… Well, since Haley was the last “successful” head of the RNC, I guess I get this one. Put Haley in charge of beating Rahm Emanuel at his own game. Tell him to bring the alligators…

Last, Bobby Jindal… I have tried and tried to see what many of my dear conservative friends see in Bobby and I’m sorry, I just don’t get it? I find myself wanting to ask,—you searched 310 million Americans, many of them truly great leaders, and this is the guy you came up with to lead the future of the GOP and the nation?

Don’t get me wrong, I really have nothing bad to say about Jindal. The problem is I have nothing great to say about him either.

What’s so ridiculous about all this is that the current occupant of the White House is providing the most fertile ground ever for any bold Republican to make a name for himself. If any of these clowns was worth a sh!t, they could step up on the soap box and let it fly, day after day, because we all know how badly all this is going to end up. But the facts are, this group is a bunch of pussies, wusses who by their very wussiosity have allowed such an Administration to get power in the first place.

I don’t want a “NEW” America, not Obama’s, not the Republicans. I want the old, original one back.

Ditto! These kind of groups do nothing except p*ss me off. They don't want to "listen" to us, they want to force all of to accept moving more left. They all need to shut up and go home. We can call them if they are needed.

I don’t like the name. “New America” implies that we agree with the liberal notion that the country is fatally flawed and needs to be remade.

ABSOLUTELY correct!

That’s why I believe this... WE must work within the power structure that exists, and rightfully belongs to conservatives in the first place. But we also much look outside of current RNC leadership to draft NEW GOP leadership which represents the principles and values of the GOP core.

The RNC tried running races without its base in 2006 and 2008. Now it’s time for the base to take back leadership of their party. Leaders from all pro-American pro-Freedom groups should leap on this opportunity to grab a seat at the head of the GOP table.

I second that!

If we don’t fire them, who will? If we can’t regain control of our own party, how in the hell can we regain control of this country?

That’s exactly what they mean, best I can tell... their new name fits.

It’s their old name that no longer fits, “conservative.”

Agree 100%!! Our guys even got the naming of this group wrong. Renew America would be more appropriate.

Can you read between the lines?

Yes I can as well.

“The National Council for a New America”

I don’t want a new America, I don’t want hope and change.

I WANT MY CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC RESTORED

As the very name of this quisling organization proves, the national GOP leadership is clueless, this latest attempt to build a message is succeeding however. The message I am getting from all this is:

We are RINOS, we are in control of the GOP and the rest of you can suck on it. I am so ready to join a conservative party.

You are beginning to believe your own propaganda - and that is deadly. "Conservatives" own nothing in the GOP. The Party is a center-right coalition that is regionalized and factionalized. Whoever can put together a winning majority within that coalition will control the Party.

Talk to some of the GOP Committeemen and Committeewomen. Most of them are some really conservative people. They have to deal with reality though. They are tasked with finding votes and winning. I don't know how many times I have gotten a call from someone saying "You have to come down to ______ and listen to this guy, he is the Next Reagan." I get excited and go down and hear some nosepicking goober mouthing conservative platitudes. None of them have the depth and breadth and wisdom even approaching Reagan.(Let me be clear here. I am longtime GOP but I do not, and have never, held any major position in the Party.)

Qualified Conservative candidates do not grow on trees. Everyone is searching for the next Reagan. The guy or gal who finds him or her will influence the course of the Republic. We work with what we have and within the prevailing attitudes of the body politic. Governor Palin may be the next transformational figure or she may be a forgotten footnote. The path is a difficult one.

It is surprisingly easy to "take over" a local or state organization. It just takes time and dedication. There are probably half a dozen to a dozen state organizations that are ripe for revitalization. Get one of those and you have a platform to speak from. I very much encourage it.

If you think that there is one governing conservative philosophy, you are wrong, very wrong. There are major issues to work out and differences to settle. The people on this panel sense that there are major changes coming and they are right. Some of them are "Old Party" but I am encouraged that Cantor and Jindal and Palin are behind it. I've been waiting and watching for Cantor to step up and this may be his chance.

This project will not be the last in this vein. This is a great resorting. We will come out stronger for it.

For a Free and Proserous Republic.

I have come to the conclusion that the GOP leadership simply does not want to further the ideas of conservatives regardless of whether or not it would win them elections. (See tagline) There is simply no reasonable excuse for RINOs to be so far out of touch with their supporters. Conservatives have been played for fools. Now is the time to get even. Now is the time to take back the Republican party for our cause. Get involved and kick the RINOs out at all levels of the GOP!

Don’t (just) get mak. Get even. Let’s take the GOP back for conservatives and kick the RINOs to the curb. They can either get a clue or get lost. They will be right at home with the Dems.
