Just as well. We all know the answers ~
Glad Mason’s making news for something edifying.
True.
.
This is a tautology. Liberalism is inherently opposed to freedom.
IMHO smoking is a wild card issue in this context. Depends on whose freedom you are referring to...smokers or clear air breathers. I believe my right to breathe clean air is every bit as legit as your right to smoke.
Not really, it should be clear cut for any Conservative or Libertarian.
There's a reason why smoking bans are more pervasive in blue state compared to red ones.
Depends on whose freedom you are referring to...smokers or clear air breathers.
Bzzzt!!! Wrong. It's not about the smokers and non-smokers, there's a 3rd party whose freedoms are being infringed with these smoking bans. The Private Property owner (which with your apparent political leanings I'm not surprised that they didn't cross your mind).
The private property owner should have the freedom to decide if he/she wants to allow smoking or not.
and if they choose smoking, you have the freedom not to patronize their business if it upsets your delicate senses that much or even better, start your own business that caters to whinny non-smokers
I believe my right to breathe clean air is every bit as legit as your right to smoke.
Nice Liberal talking point,
But would you care to point out where in the Constitution that the right to breathe clean air on someone else's private property is located? Which Amendment is that?
I am a non-smoker BTW, so here's a nice Conservative talking point right back at you--> I might not like the smell of smoke, but I hate the stench of fascism even worse.
“Bzzzt!!! Wrong.”
Bzzzt!!! So says you.
“It’s not about the smokers and non-smokers, there’s a 3rd party whose freedoms are being infringed with these smoking bans.”
True. They were not included in my comments.
“The Private Property owner (which with your apparent political leanings I’m not surprised that they didn’t cross your mind).”
You have no idea what my leanings are. You have project my observation as applied to the first two groups to that of the third and made a wrong assumption.
“The private property owner should have the freedom to decide if he/she wants to allow smoking or not.”
Absolutely.
“...and if they choose smoking, you have the freedom not to patronize their business if it upsets your delicate senses that much or even better, start your own business that caters to whinny non-smokers.”
Ah....you just introduce a fourth perspective.
“Nice Liberal talking point,”
And yet, it was made by a conservative. Go figure.
“But would you care to point out where in the Constitution that the right to breathe clean air on someone else’s private property is located? Which Amendment is that?”
Gee, if only it worked that way you could point me to the amendment that says smokers are entitled to pollute the air on private property or otherwise.
“I am a non-smoker BTW, so here’s a nice Conservative talking point right back at you—> I might not like the smell of smoke, but I hate the stench of fascism even worse.”
Here’s mine. Smoke in my air and I’ll spit in your water.
