The story is that you help out an opposing hitter (that you know) when the game is out of reach and he needs hit. Baseball insiders are saying it’s BS since there is no way A-Roid could really do that from his vantage point.

Apparently it’s common for the shortstop or second baseman (who can see the catcher’s sign to the pitcher) to tip the pitch through some kind of signal to the rest of the infield so that they can be ready; a hitter is more likely to hit a curve to one particular area of the infield and a fastball to another. So far, so good. But it’s alleged that A-Rod made the signal early (before the hitter had to focus on the pitcher) in the late innings of blowouts so that his friends on other teams could know what was coming and had a chance to pick up a hit or two.
