I hope they will let SW Pennsylvania join them. Our state is second only to Texas in the sheer number of gun owners.

What most of the ignorami don't realize is that the U.S. Constitution is a contract between the states, people and the federal government. When the feds decided to unilaterally decide which parts should and should not apply, they invalidate the entire contract and, by doing so, enable the states and the people to do likewise.

And don't give me that crap about succession being tossed into the dustbin of history with the Civil War. Read Lincoln's speeches, especially pre-April 1861. Prior to the Southern declaration of war, Lincoln tried very hard to reach out to them and assure them their rights would be respected, including slavery. Lincoln's own preferred solution to the slavery problem was similar to the successful peaceful model of William Wilberforce in the United Kingdom: compensate the slave owners from public funds (generated from the sale on new land in the west). The state legislatures in the south rode roughshod over a fairly significant minority of southerners who had little or no interest in succession and wanted to see if Lincoln could govern as promised.

The great Texas patriot Sam Houston also wanted no part of the succession movement until such time, if any, that Lincoln's promises turned into lies, at which point he would be open to it.

I feel the same way about Barack-- had he kept his campaign promises to govern from the middle and bridge the sharp partisan divide, even in an incompetent and oafish manner like Jimmy Carter, I feel the country could have survived, albeit in a greatly weakened state. Now, I am not so sure.

Yea, I like Pennsylvania. More snow and rain. It’s just those damn New Yorkers and New Jerseyians that have made a purple state blue. Bastards.
