There has been a lot of debate on the potential prosecution of Bush Administration officials who offered legal opinions supporting waterboarding -- with some even calling for investigations of high-ranking officials like Dick Cheney. However, one thing that hasn't been given the attention it deserves is the precedent it would set if we were to criminalize national security decisions. Hence, I've finally decided to test out the time machine I've been building in my basement.
For instance, the following Associated Press story was filed on April 23, 2013, and if it sounds Orwellian, well, it is:
OBAMA ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS TO FACE PROSECUTION
WASHINGTON – The Justice Department announced today that charges could be filed against numerous Obama Administration officials as a result of last year's terror attack in Los Angeles. In announcing the indictments, Attorney General John Cornyn said that top officials showed "gross and purposeful negligence" by releasing perpetrators of the attacks from the Guantanamo Bay prison camp and demanding that interrogation tactics be softened against chief planner Mehmet al-Meshugeneh, who had already revealed that a major attack was being planned against a major U.S. sporting event.
"By purposefully disregarding crucial intelligence, and in releasing known participants in the plot into Saudi custody, numerous government officials took action which made the Staples Center bombing possible," Cornyn said. He went on to note that, "numerous individuals in the Departments of Defense, Justice, and Homeland Security knowingly pursued policies which would endanger the lives of Americans. They placed their political priorities above the safety of the citizens of this country, and thousands of innocent people died as a result. These people must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
At the White House, Press Secretary Adam Brickley said that President Sarah Palin stands firmly behind the decision

My Grandfather was a “guest” at a Japanese internment camp (1942-1945) and ended up losing his property. He often said that FDR should had been locked up for that. HE WAS A US CITIZEN and he was treated like a criminal. So much for his civil rights.
How about prosecuting JFK and LBJ offcials over the bungling of the Vietnam war and the tens-of-thousands of civilian deaths??? Aren’t they war criminals???

And don’t forget that the great liberal Justice Earl Warren was the “enforcer” of the Japanese internment under FDR. Or, Bobby Kennedy wiretapped MLK, etc., etc., etc., etc....
And one other thing: My father was a Colonel in charge of a section of Japan during the Occupation. One of Gen. MacArthur’s { That Right-wing War-Monger /s} orders was never, never refer to the Japanese as Japs. The Americans were to show respect to the Japanese.

Tonight on the Rusty Humphries show on Sirius/XM, he was discussing this...he was pretty steamed about Obama’s possibly prosecuting some in the Bush administration, and he was decrying what a terrible precedent it would set. Then he blurts out, “so Obama wants to prosecute Bush’s guys, then Palin is going to prosecute Obama’s guys, and the next guy is gonna prosecute Palin’s guys...and so on.”
Who is this lady (Liz Cheney)? Why haven’t we been hearing about her instead of an infantile young lady who is the daughter of a US Senator? Very, very impressive, and I think even Governor Palin could a take a lesson from Ms Cheney.
Never concede, have all your facts lined up, then even the most leftist of MSM person is toast.

Seems far-fetched to me,...for one thing, (R) John Cornyn has voiced his support to help campain for Arlen Specter’s run for re-election. He (Cornyn) is going to face some concervative backlash in his next run for re-election. So if the article mentioned someone other than Cornyn, it would be believable.
