Paducah TX.The 32 delegates sat in a smal room around regular tables on metal folding chairs drinking from paper cups from jugs of sweet iced tea and bottles of soda. The speaker stood at the center where a small stage, hastily built from bricks and plywood sat in a clearing.
"... as we face the final days of our lives I would like to say I am proud of what I have done. I am proud to be giving my life for the ideals of freedom and liberty. I know we all are, even if we are frightened. Thank You" he finished before taking his seat at the table with a small cardboard sign reading Cottle County.
Another man stood up from the table marked King County and walked onto the platform. He looked at down at the sheet of paper in his hand and began his statement.
"Let me begin by addressing those watching on the webcam all over the world. Especially to those within the government of the United States.
"I realize that our ideas and our beliefs are not shared by you or maybe even a majority of Americans, but we used to believe that minorities had rights too. We used to believe that freedom of thought, opinion, speech and assembly and expression were important.
"Now I stand here for the last time, giving possibly my last breathe to beseech the American people to search their souls and ask themselves if this is really what they want to do. Is this really the right thing?
"For it is murder. Not just the murder of thousands of innocent people condemn for a desire to be free of oppression, but the murder of liberty itself. As your tanks ram through the day care centers, schools and churches of these counties, know that you are on the side of evil. You might just be pawns and bit players but it will condemn your souls.
"Let my people go Mr President. Let us remain free peoples America. Let us all stand together united in freedom under the Constitution once again!
He muttered a "thank you" as he stepped off the stage and returned to his seat.
"I call this meeting to order now that our opening speeches are completed. Of course there is only one real question we must vote on. The same as the last several meetings. Should we surrender?" said a man who stood behind a table marked Borden County.
The 32 men and women took turns and the result was a vote of 32-0 against a surrender.
"Well I suppose thats that then" said the man who was standing and acting as Moderator. "It has been a pleasure meeting you, knowing you, fighting beside you and now dying with you. This meeting is hereby closed".
US Army and National Guard tanks and other vehicles began moving again toward the small town of Paducah. The attack helicopters flew in advance and began strafing homes and barns they encountered. The US military encountered sporadic resistance here and there from the Citizens Defense Leagues. These were usually very easily dispatched by aerial attack or bombardment from tanks and artillery from a distance.
Soon the 8-county area was a large battlefield. The outcome was pretty much a certainty.
These were the final holdouts after the government of the US had turned to tyranny. These counties had tried to become their own country as a last resort.
So this is how freedom dies. Under the treads of tanks.
Sorry.
Make the other guy give his life for his country (or cause)?

Where is Archy?
Apaches... 1st Air Cav
Don't know, MH.
He'd sent me two PMs back on 10-27 & 10-31 of 08.
Somewhat cryptic, thought he might've mistakenly sent them to me.
Unfortunately I was on a one year sabbatical at that time, didn't find 'em until many months later.
Hoping the man's alright.
They’ll fit in just nicely into the plan...;-)
Me too. Hasn’t posted since December
Indeed!
Neat.
“As far as I am concerned every sob that voted for obama can go straight to hell. I dont give a damn about their buyers remorse. I hiope that they get a belly full of the sob.
In fact, the only people I despise more than obama are the sobs that inflicted him on me .”
I think the fact that the alternative was McCain had a lot to do with why Zero was elected. I therefore direct some of my anger toward the GOP for giving me a weak alternative (I had to hold my nose so hard when I voted that it left a red mark for a week). Nevertheless, Zero got more than 50% of the vote, so we are going to need at least a few of those “sob’s” to see the light to get Zero unelected. I share your anger, but don’t lose sight of the goal of getting it right next time.
Personally, I feel “getting it right” means electing someone who is a darn sight more fiscally conservative and truly Conservative than John McCain. For that the onus seem to fall squarely on the GOP. I am tired of watching Republicans spend like Democrats.
Go ahead an be angry for a couple of more months, but then lets get down to the business of restoring sanity to government and a Conservative to the White House.
Here is some morning encouragement for you:
Lets make sure that Republican is a skin flint, rock-ribbed Conservative and not the “compassionate” and spendthrift variety.
Starting to lose sleep?
I’ve been staring at the ceiling and listening to the hall clock strick 0300 for a few months now.
I doubt I survive this SOB much longer. Something has gotta give or happen.
Hey - we have a daily crisis going here! Yesterday it was the Swine flu - oops - sorry - the H1N1 or whatever the heck it is....that was ever growing into a pandemic. Today, it’s Chrysler going bankrupt. Why in heck Zero had to get on to comment is amazing. I don’t ever recall in the history of TV any president getting on to comment about a corporation going bankrupt. Wonder what the crisis will be tomorrow????
Not only to comment but to criticize the bond holders for their business positions.
We can only guess what disaster will be revealed to us tomorrow by this POS.
There does seem to be CONSTANTLY a steady stream of criticism from this admin. and Congress towards ANYONE in business, the former administration, or whomever might disagree with their point of view. It’s scary.
