I care very much for the next generation. And as a married woman of over 20 years with 3 boys, I can assure you that I despise homosexuality with every fiber of my being. I also will fight to the death a redefinition of the term marriage.

That said, we have two options either 1. Do away with ANY benefit to a union that not every person in this country cannot enjoy regardless of sexual orientation OR 2. Allow all couples the same protections under said laws.

I don’t care which way it goes mind you. If you want to do away with any benefit for coupling up, so be it, no marriage benefit in taxes, health care, life insurance etc. If all couples have those same rights under the law, I am good with it.

As to not caring about society, I am SURE that anyone who is not attracted to the same sex is going to run right out and become gay because they have those rights. Societies that allowed homosexuality were not the reason the societies fell, it was IMMORALITY that caused them to fall.
Homosexuality is a byproduct of immorality, and ageed, it sucks, however, discriminating is NOT going to lessen it any more than legalizing is going to make it more prevelant.

What I would actually like to see is 1. Every state in the nation NOT perform a marriage, ever. Then, no redefinition of marriage would be necessary. One would only be able to marry IN a church, as the sacrament it is. The states would then be able to define what was involved in a civil union, and do what each state felt was right.

As a republic, the rule of law is the law of the land, not the mobocracy. If marriage was removed from this, they can call it whatever they want.

And, before you swing your oh so tolerant ethos statements around, it might be wise to know who your swinging at. I have posted over 1650 times on here, I am a die hard conservative, catholic, and when I have an opinion that differs from others on here, I would appreciate the benefit of the doubt or an actual discussion not your holier than thou slap down because one might see things differently. But snarky bitch slaps seem to be the MO around here if you dare step you toe over the line. Sounds alot more like NO place for conservative discussion and more like DU every day.

There are many marks of immorality, the common tolerance of public sexual acts or even public sexuality is a strong one. A combination of modesty and at the same time an appreciation for beauty are the marks of a mature, healthy and moral culture.

Legalizing immorality directly or indirectly does indeed encourage the feral, and make the immorality more wide-spread. When it is common for people to IDENTIFY themselves in public by their sexuality — that itself, is a sign of cultural depravity and immodesty. And it is good — a social necessity in a healthy society to disapprove of such public and obvious identity declarations. Say when Perez or Rosie identify themselves as “gay”.

A healthy and successful culture must discriminate. There is no need to embarrass the confused, but some social concepts in currency today are toxic and it would be helpful — and necessary — to make clear that a good person does not engage in them nor tolerate a close association with those become mired in them — and to avoid those who would celebrate or recommend those behaviors.

Single motherhood is a social affliction. We are beset by a huge rate of births out of wedlock — not just us, but much of the Western world. What is the cure?

To promote marriage, to protect marriage. Tolerating single-sex unions of any sort removes those two parties from the marriage pool, and thus reduces the next generation.

Tolerating public homosexuality is like tolerating auto body rust — rust grows and grows like something alive until the entire car turns into rust, and then the rust flakes off into dust — nothing is left.
