It is time to unleash hell on the National Republican party establishment. We need to "blacklist" any Republican who speaks out against Governor Palin is an unfair way. We can put their name on a "wall of shame". and actively seek to defeat them in GOP primaries or undermine them in any way possible.
It is time to get nasty. These are the kind of tactics that got President Obama the nomination and ultimately the Presidency in 2008. It it time we take notes and play the same game.
And we need to play their game in a general election. We need to dig up trash on the Democrats and go after them as they have us.
We have so many resources at our finger tips. It is time to use them in a more effective way.
John McCain fought for this country in Vietnam. and I have nothing but respect for his military service. He is an American hero.
but John McCain the political candidate was a weak little gutless weasel with no balls.
A party should not be based on a a person (as we saw how this can completely ruin a party with George W Bush) but on the fulfillment and sticking to the prescription of the foundational ideals and principles. Then and only then can the masses shape and form a strong political party with distinct candidates that stick to such a foundation. If you are going to come down hard on these politicians it should ALWAYS and FOREVER be in their implementation of the core principles—both positively and negatively. Otherwise once the person dies or is discredited the party itself is either in shambles or highly weakened.
This should be the only and the exclusive focus always of the party. People? Either they stick to those principles or they do not. If they do not we take them out or do not vote them in as candidates. We do not fund them as candidates. If the GOP does the GOP does not get our money. It should never be harassing people, candidates, or elected politicians because of their agreement or disagreement with a candidate, but a focus on whether or not they are fulfilling the principles of the party.
I'm with you!
Of course. That’s why I was agreeing with her.
Thanks for that Reagan quote!
I’d be angry too, if I lived in Sardis. Just admit it - you are a young punk with a big mouth
For someone who called the Palin family rather tawdry, I honestly doubt that you can see things straight.
You’re welcome.
I see a lot of attacks on McCain and Romney as RINOs, and very few from McCain and Romney supporters against Palin.
I'd suggest ALL Republicans - including those here supporting Palin - remember Reagan's words on working together and compromise:
"When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn't like it.
"Compromise" was a dirty word to them and they wouldn't face the fact that we couldn't get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don't get it all, some said, don't take anything.
"I'd learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: 'I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.'
"If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that's what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it.
Those are sage words; if only ALL Republicans would remember them. Better a 60% agreeable "RINO" than a Schumer or Pelosi. Ronald Reagan would agree - it's right in line with his own words.
Rather than charging sitting Republicans who are not Conservative enough as RINOs and continuing to fracture the party, we should work to push them to the Conservative positions, or to find alternative candidates to meet them in the primary - but challenge them in the realm of ideas and values rather than personal attacks. And whoever wins the primary, get behind them in general election.
I'd take a John McCain over an Obama or Pelosi or Reid any day; I'd greatly prefer a Newt or Bennett or Santorum even more! Unfortunately, I fear too many FReepers have lost touch with the wisdom of Ronald Reagan and have become so extreme that only those who they perceive to be 100% ideologically pure can ever be supported. And that leaves us with the minority role forever.
Pretentious? Palin is the least pretentious of any pol I've seen in years. Stupid? Really? That's rather amazing since she comes from a family of teachers.
I believe the "white trash" portion of this little cat scratch tells the real story...Debbie desperately wants to feel superior. She dresses pretty trashy and wears thick makeup. She could declare half the country as worthy of the trash bin and she still would not look any better to me.
What if I disagree with Governor Palin becuase she’s not that conservative *puts on flame suit!?
As soon as the upcoming special election in CA is over next month, I am switching to the Libertarian party. I have had it with the GOP.
I have not been following this at all so I am curious what are the forms of the attacks taking and what sort of policies do those that attack her take in action when voting? Are they foundational conservative votes or RHINO liberal votes? Is there a connection between the two or are they just threatened by her high visibility and feminine wiles? ;-).
We decide. We’re much more fair-minded people than RINOs adn otehr liberals will ever be or will ever even try to be.
Let's not forget that Ronald Reagan had enemies in the Republican Party and overcame them. If Sarah Palin is what we think she is, she will overcome her intra-party rivals as well. I like Sarah Palin in any exchange of ideas. Unlike some of her rivals and like Ronald Reagan, Sarah speaks conservatism with real conviction.
Get rid of the RINOs and the problem is solved.
Fire away. There are a select few on this site that spew hate when they disagree and attack the person FR member instead of offering up intelligent disagreements regarding the candidate/politician backed up by facts or thoughtful examples. There are also others on this site that won't listen to a disagreement no matter how thoughtful or intelligently offered as they just worship their politician forgetting God told them He is the only one they should worship.
